Roborock as a company already operates separately, but it started under Xiaomi. It makes high-quality robot vacuum cleaners that can boast not only great specs, but also an interesting price. The latest Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is the best-equipped and at the same time the most expensive model from the manufacturer.
It will dump itself and also wring it out
The new model is based on the standard Roborock S7, but it brings several important upgrades. Right at first glance, the device impresses with a completely new and redesigned charging station. Compared to the competition, it stands out mainly for its width, but there’s a reason for that.
There are as many as three containers here. The first one holds a classic dust bag for the collected waste. This isn’t anything special—every better vacuum offers it. Thanks to that, you don’t have to empty the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra after every cleaning. It will do it itself.
The next two containers you’ll find here are a small revolution in robotic mopping. The first is for automatic dispensing of clean water for mopping, the second for dirty – the one that collects during mopping. A soiled wet cloth can, at this station, be automatically wrung out.
Upgraded mopping system
As you surely know, cheap robot vacuum cleaners with mopping functions can’t really wash the floor properly. That won’t happen with this model. The VibraRise mopping system is designed so that mopping is as efficient as possible. During mopping, the wet cloth vibrates, which ensures more thorough dirt removal.
The system is of course intelligent, and it won’t have trouble even with carpets at home. The vacuum can recognize the carpet and, while vacuuming, simply lifts the mopping system so that water doesn’t get onto the carpet. In the end, the user hardly has to worry about anything.
The system was designed so that with a single filling of the water container it can clean up to 300 square meters of floors. That means your home gets cleaned without refilling the water—several times even. Refilling the water itself is easy, since you just need to open the lid and pour in more. It’s much more convenient than disassembling individual parts of the vacuum and topping up the water that way.
Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra has 2 cameras and a LiDAR sensor
The mopping system is certainly what makes this vacuum unique, but other features are also important. From the Roborock S7 model, the new one took all the key functions, but adds something extra. Navigation is handled via a LiDAR sensor combined with two cameras. So the problem won’t be even vacuuming in absolute darkness—the vacuum will still be able to orient itself.
This system is called ReactiveAI 2.0. The Roborock app is, of course, a given—you’ll see the mapped rooms in it. From previous models, the new one has also kept intelligent features like automatic object recognition in the home, avoiding poop, and more. It can display these obstacles on the room map, and you’ll see them on your smartphone.
Thanks to the integrated camera, you also get real-time mopping monitoring, so you know exactly where the vacuum is. You’ll of course see that too in the standard map preview, because the app shows the current position during cleaning and the history. Having a camera in the vacuum raises questions about security in case of a potential hacker attack. The manufacturer states there’s nothing to worry about, because it meets the certification TUV Rheinland and the standard ETSI EN 303 645.
Great battery life and faster charging
Of course, it comes with a washable HEPA filter; the vacuuming mechanism includes one side brush, but most importantly, it’s all about suction power. And that’s at an unbelievable 5100 Pa. Which means dirt has no chance with the new Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra.
The water tank capacity inside the vacuum itself is 0,2 l, the dirt container has a volume of 0,4 l. It’s not a lot, but it doesn’t need to be, because filling and emptying work automatically.
A battery with a capacity of 5200 mAh will, according to the manufacturer, provide up to three hours of runtime on a single charge. If, for any reason, the vacuum doesn’t have enough power to finish vacuuming or mopping, it can return to the charging station, top up, and continue cleaning.
Of course, the 180-minute runtime applies to the lowest power mode; with higher modes, the maximum cleaning time naturally drops. You’ll also like the 30% faster charging compared to the predecessor.
Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra isn’t cheap.
And finally, the price. Based on the first information, it should be quite high. On the other hand, you pay for quality. For $1399 (roughly €1240), you’ll get the best that’s currently available on the robot vacuum market.
