This time too, Xiaomi is set to unveil its Ultra smartphone as part of its flagship line. It should be called Xiaomi 15 Ultra and come with a very distinctive design.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra and a controversial camera design!
One of the most important dates for the Xiaomi brand is coming up. The Chinese manufacturer is preparing a press conference on 29. October 2024, where they will unveil new Xiaomi 15 smartphones, Xiaomi 15 Pro, as well as the HyperOS 2.0 system, the Xiaomi Pad 7 tablet, and the Xiaomi Watch S4 watch.
However, the leaked information that appeared online comments on a completely different model that’s still in the early stages of preparation. It will be the successor to the Ultra smartphone, called Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
But we’ll have to wait a few more months for this flagship smartphone. Still, we do have the first images of the exterior and several fairly controversial design elements, including the camera lenses.
Cameras with an unusual spacing, plus Leica lenses
The device frame remains identical. The glass-metal “sandwich” is complemented by a prominent and sturdy rear camera module. It has a circular shape, but what has changed compared to the previous generation is the arrangement of the individual sensors.
As you can see in the photo, the lenses are placed in a somewhat unusual shape, but it’s a position that should make sense in terms of photography. The device’s aesthetics are a bit stranger, though, since the sensors are arranged in the shape of the letter “L”.
Xiaomi continues its partnership with Leica, and we should also see special editions that simulate leather on the back. It’s a very good material for gripping the device when taking photos, and it’s also easy to clean.
The display has also been improved—along with its bezels, which are a bit thinner, so the screen-to-front-wall ratio is better too. We don’t know more details yet, but we expect further leaks in the coming weeks.
