Recently, we informed you that Xiaomi is preparing a product Xiaomi Mi TV Stick 2021, which should now also handle 4K resolution. We also got the first real photos of the product. Now, we’ve received information about the processor used and other parameters.
The more powerful Mi TV Stick will come with several upgrades
The US certification FCC agency has already certified this device recently. Back then, we didn’t get any details about the hardware specs. That’s changing now, as the same agency is currently also approving part of the hardware equipment. The internals will be more powerful again, and the system will run even smoother.
The device carries the model number MDZ-27-AA. Xiaomi has bet on a processor from the same manufacturer as in the previous model—specifically the quad-core Amlogic S905Y4 together with the graphics unit Mali G31 MP2. This hardware will allow you to play content in 4K resolution at 60 fps.
What really makes the product stand out—and justifies its title “a smart device for the living room”—is also the whole range of supported codecs. It includes HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and DTS HD, AV1 / H.265 / VP9 P-2 / AVS2 4Kp30 and H.264. The offer is truly broad.
Because powering it via the HDMI connector alone isn’t enough, the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick 2021 will be powered by a 5-watt adapter, which will likely be included in the box. It won’t be missing an HDMI cable and a remote control with simple operation. The remote will need two AAA pen batteries to work. We’re used to this from the previous generation.

The first generation of the popular Mi TV Stick offers 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage, but with the new version we should see a doubling of both memory capacities.
The successor is also expected to bring the Android TV operating system, along with support for popular apps like Netflix, YouTube, Twitch, Prime Video, Google Assistant, and many, many more.
We don’t know the price or availability yet
The official launch is expected sometime toward the end of this year. Its price isn’t known yet, but we expect a slightly higher amount than the base version. The main reason for the increase will be the higher performance, along with support for 4K resolution.
