Rumors about Xiaomi 12 Ultra, the most high-end smartphone, are heating up again. This time, we got a render showing the model in all its glory. The main feature should be a Leica-tuned camera.
A larger secondary display
Not long ago, we told you that Leica has ended its cooperation with Huawei and is looking for a new partner. According to leaked information, that partner should be the Chinese giant Xiaomi itself.
Their first move will likely be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra smartphone. We could see it as early as the first quarter of next year. We don’t know the design yet, but that’s why we’ve got a render shared by the portal LetsGoDigital, too.
Apparently, we’ll get a slightly updated design for the rear camera module. The lenses should now be stacked on top of each other instead of placed side by side like in the previous generation.
The new secondary display introduced by the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra will be kept. It should be bigger and slightly larger. We’d much rather see it with more useful features and a proper dose of personalization, not just a time indicator and a camera preview.
Good news: the module should protrude a bit less from the phone body itself. It will house three lenses — a classic one, an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a periscope lens capable of combined zoom up to 120-times.
The best display and the most powerful processor
Everything is still just speculation. We’ll have to wait a few more weeks for the real product. For now, we know that Xiaomi will continue collaborating with Harman/Kardon, which will focus on the sound from stereo speakers.
On the front, there will be an AMOLED display with minimal bezels and a small cutout for the selfie camera. The processor will be an as-yet-unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 gen1, since Qualcomm is changing the naming of its processors.
