At the end of March, Xiaomi introduced its first foldable device, the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold. The large display persuaded the manufacturer to streamline things with an overlay called MIUI PC. This update with MIUI PC has just been released for this smartphone. Thanks to XDA-Develoepers, we have access to multiple photos as well as video.
Nice desktop interface
As you can see in the video below, this special mode in MIUI can be started by swiping three fingers from right to left. This activates the feature, and the smartphone switches to a special desktop mode reminiscent of, for example, Microsoft Windows.
The goal is to improve productivity on such a large display. The size of the internal display is up to 8 inches. Turning off this mode then works the same way.
Once launched, the desktop appears together with the bottom bar. It shows a menu with all installed apps, the apps currently running, and also a bar with quick switches. A notification center is also included.
Up to 4 apps running at the same time
The MIUI PC overlay allows you to run up to 4 apps simultaneously. They open in floating windows, and the user can very easily adjust their size. You can also minimize them to the bottom bar or close them completely.
In the bottom bar, right next to the notification center icon, you’ll see the current time and date. After you click, it shows a calendar preview with all events. It’s an element that we clearly recognize from Windows 10.
We also know that some supported apps will appear in a special tablet mode, which should be more efficient for work. MIUI PC should also come to the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 tablet. However, based on the latest information, we’ll see it only in the second half of the year 2021.
How do you like this MIUI PC desktop mode? Could you handle some laptop tasks in this style? Be sure to write your thoughts in the comments below. Follow the XiaomiPlanet website, subscribe to news, and don’t forget that our groups are also on Facebook, so feel free to join it.
