- Watch S5 in a 41 mm case is heading to Europe, according to a leak
- Battery life up to 14 days, 590 mAh battery
- The global manual mentions NFC as well as Wi‑Fi
- The Czech price is allegedly 5 469 Kč (about 225 €)
So far, in our market the Xiaomi Watch S5 is sold only in a 46 mm case, which on a smaller wrist looks more like an alarm clock. That could change soon, since, according to exclusive info from the site Světa Androida, Xiaomi is preparing a smaller Watch S5 41 mm version for Europe, which until now has been sold only in China. The Czech site also has a manual for the global version in Czech and Slovak.
Black and light blue, both with a steel case
In China, the smaller watches were shown in late September together with the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max phones. According to the source of the Czech website, the global version is expected in two colors, black and light blue, with the stainless-steel case having a diameter of 41 mm, a thickness of 9,9 mm, and weighing 36 grams without the strap.
The round AMOLED display has a 1,32-inch diagonal and a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels, and the Chinese version of Xiaomi promises brightness up to 3 000 nits. The watches will run on HyperOS with a new interface look resembling glass, and you’ll also get an interactive dial with an animal that reacts to the weather or how hard you worked out that day.
Battery is 84 % larger than on the Watch S4 41 mm
The biggest improvement is the battery: it has 590 mAh, which is 84 % more than last year’s Watch S4 41 mm. Xiaomi claims up to eight days with normal use and up to 14 days in power-saving mode, when the watch measures heart rate only once every ten minutes. With always-on display, the manufacturer expects five days.
Health is monitored by an optical heart-rate sensor and three temperature sensors, which are meant to estimate the menstrual cycle more accurately. For sports and trips, there’s a barometer and an electronic compass. The watch summarizes workouts and sleep in the Health Summary, and based on your current condition it can help plan your training. It handles water up to 5 ATM, and it connects to your phone via Bluetooth 5.4.
NFC in the manual; payments not yet confirmed
The global-version manual reveals dual-frequency satellite navigation with support for GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou, and QZSS, so you can track your running route even without your phone. It also mentions an NFC chip and Wi‑Fi 6, but whether you’ll be able to pay with the watch in Europe isn’t clear from it, and Xiaomi hasn’t said so yet. Bigger Watch S5 46 mm models can pay via Xiaomi Pay—along with which banks support it—you can find in our list for Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
iPhone owners need to count on limitations. According to notes for the Chinese version, third‑party apps and health studies don’t work with it, and some features are reserved for Android phones.
Smaller models may be more expensive than bigger ones
Svět Androida lists the Czech price as 5 469 Kč, which is approximately 225 €, though it can’t confirm it with certainty yet. Bigger Watch S5 46 mm in the Czech Republic, at launch, cost 3 999 Kč (about 164 €), and later they got more expensive to 4 199 Kč. Higher pricing for the smaller version is suggested by leaks from abroad, where it’s said to be over 240 €.
Bigger 46 mm watches have a 815 mAh battery and up to 21 days of battery life, so if you don’t need a smaller case, you’ll get longer use and you’ll probably pay less too. You can find the current price for the 46 mm version from the European warehouse in our coupon article. When the smaller Watch S5 will be released, Xiaomi hasn’t announced yet, but according to a Czech website, they will very likely come together with the Xiaomi 18 Pro lineup. That one has a global premiere confirmed for November.
