Design and build of the Wanbo DaVinci 1 Pro projector
Its compact dimensions 222 × 196 × 175 mm and 2.8 kg weight are optimized for easy handling and moving. Wanbo chose plastic as the main material used for the projector’s casing. That’s clever—so even though it feels like it’s made of aluminum.
PixelPro 5.0 with resolution 1080p Full HD and 500 ANSI lumens
On the front, the projector has a large projection lens that’s part of the PixelPro 5.0 optical system. It uses 4 lenses—3 are made of glass and one is aspherical—ensuring image clarity at native 1080p Full HD resolution.
The brightness performance of 600 ANSI lumens ensures good visibility even in slightly lit rooms. The projector also comes with a ToF sensor (Time-of-Flight).
DaVinci 1 Pro connection options and control
On the back of the projector, you’ll find 2 USB ports 2.0, an HDMI input, a 3,5 mm audio port, a power button, and an AC port. The ports allow you to connect various devices—from external hard drives to gaming consoles.
The Wanbo DaVinci 1 Pro is also equipped with a Bluetooth voice remote control that has built-in buttons for direct access to apps like YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+. With Google Assistant, you can control the projector using voice commands.
Image quality and smart features of the Wanbo DaVinci 1 Pro
The DaVinci 1 Pro by Wanbo is an affordable projector for home cinema, but it includes intelligent display features you usually find in much more expensive projectors. It’s equipped with the All-scene Smart Algorithm 3.0 (ASA 3.0) technology, which includes features such as intelligent image alignment, obstacle avoidance, automatic correction of keystone distortion (±30°), and automatic focus.
Besides automatic settings, the user also has manual settings and adjustments available. That comes in handy because, according to reviews, automatic functions are sometimes inconsistent and the image needs fine-tuning manually.
Wanbo DaVinci 1 Pro: Solid audio and up to 6 sound modes
The DaVinci 1 Pro offers 6 preset sound modes (standard, announcements, music, movie, sports, and user), letting you optimize the sound based on the type of content you’re playing. Two built-in 8 W HiFi speakers with a DPS amplifier perform decently, but they can be complemented with an external audio system via Bluetooth (5.0) or a 3.5 mm jack. The projector’s own noise level right after turning on is friendly (about 46-54 dB).
Projected image size
Wanbo DaVinci 1 Pro projector, according to the manufacturer, can project images up to a size of 180″ (3.98 m x 2.24 m – screen length x width and 4.9 m distance from the projector to the wall), which is truly a decent image size for a home cinema.
For example, you can achieve an approximately 112″ diagonal (2.48 m x 1.42 m) at a distance of 3.10 m from the wall, but you need to place the projector at a height of 106 cm above the ground.
Lack of detail reproduction in HDR
When it comes to picture quality, the projector doesn’t support HDR, which could be a drawback for some users. However, the DaVinci 1 Pro balances these limitations with a wide range of adjustable color temperature settings (Cool, Warm, Standard, User) and display modes (Standard, Vivid, Soft, User).
The projector runs on the Google TV operating system (Android TV 11), which makes it easy to access your favorite streaming apps and content. Built-in support for the Widevine L1 certificate means the Wanbo DaVinci 1 Pro can play content, for example from Netflix and Amazon Prime, in HD quality, which isn’t entirely common in this price range.
