Xiaomi 12 Pro will come with the second generation of LTPO display technology, which saves battery life and can dynamically adjust the refresh rate

We’ve already heard a lot about the upcoming smartphone Xiaomi 12 Pro. Its launch is just a few days away, which is why the Chinese giant is revealing more and more specs. This one concerns the display and its special feature.

Finally, LTPO technology

The display will have an LTPO Micro Lens technology screen. That means it can change the refresh rate based on the content being shown.

More precisely, it will be able to change the refresh rate from 1 Hz to 120 Hz. Specifically, this smartphone will display content at 1, 10, 30, 60, 90 and 120 Hz.

For example, when reading text or looking at an image, the display content is static, and the refresh rate switches to 1 Hz. As soon as you start scrolling or playing games, the refresh rate switches to full 120 Hz. The difference between switching refresh rates won’t be noticeable, so you don’t need to worry about seeing any stutters or lag. The LTPO display also already works, for example, on OnePlus 9 Pro.

A display with LTPO Micro Lens technology can show much more realistic and vivid colors. We also expect this display in the later-revealed Xiaomi 12 Ultra model.

2K resolution and CUP camera

Reports say that, unlike the base model Xiaomi 12, which will offer Full HD resolution, this model will come with 2K resolution.

Additionally we know that Xiaomi will use CUP technology from the MIX 4 smartphone, which means the front selfie camera will be hidden under the display itself. We’re very curious about the resulting photos and whether this model will also make it to the global market.

This technology has a better impact on the battery, so power management will be slightly better, which should give us improved battery life compared to the base Xiaomi 12 model—especially since it will also be smaller.
