Xiaomi 12 Pro: 1440p 120 Hz AMOLED display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

The smartphone Xiaomi 12 Pro belongs to the larger devices, as the dimensions of 163.6 x 74.6 x 8.2 mm also suggest. This device weighs 204 grams. On the front, you’ll find a large 6.73″ LTPO AMOLED display with 1440p resolution (3200 x 1440 pixels), brightness up to 1500 nits, and support for an adaptive refresh rate (Adaptive SyncPro) from 1 Hz to 120 Hz.

Performance is handled here too by the flagship 4 nm processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, offering eight cores as well as the Adreno 730 GPU. The base configuration comes with 8 GB RAM + 128 GB internal storage (UFS 3.1). The higher configuration then goes up to 12 GB RAM + 256 GB internal storage (UFS 3.1).

The area of mobile photography is extremely powerful as well. Here, the spotlight is on the 50 MPx sensor (Sony IMX 766, f/1.88) with optical image stabilization. This sensor is also complemented by a 50 MPx ultra-wide sensor and a 50 MPx telephoto lens. The smartphone supports up to 8K video at 24 fps or 4K video at 60 fps. The front camera matches the base model, with 32 MPx resolution, and it’s placed in a display cutout.

The equipment also includes Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6 technology, NFC chip, a quad-speaker setup from Harman/Kardon with Dolby Atmos support, and an infrared port for controlling home electronics. As for the software, the manufacturer guarantees three Android system updates and four years of security updates. Out of the box, it comes with Android 12 and the MIUI 13 interface.

The battery capacity is 4600 mAh and it supports ultra-fast wired charging up to 120 W (Xiaomi HyperCharge). You can reach full capacity in just 18 minutes thanks to the 120 W charger included in the box. It also includes 50 W fast wireless charging and 10 W reverse charging.

Price and availability of the flagship smartphone

The second new model in the lineup, the flagship smartphone labeled Xiaomi 12 Pro, will go on sale in color options Purple, Blue and Dark Grey. The base configuration with 8 GB RAM + 128 GB internal storage will be sold with an international warranty at the recommended retail price of from $999 (in the EU it’s likely €999). The European on-sale date is not known yet.

Xiaomi has also promised long-term software support + an extended warranty

Towards the end of the smartphone presentation, we also learned some interesting details about the software support for Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro. After unboxing, the phones will run on Android 12 with MIUI 13 on top, while the manufacturer promises up to 4 years of security updates and also up to 3 OS version upgrades.

What’s more, the Xiaomi 12 series is bringing a fully expanded 2-year warranty for the first time, and the manufacturer also offers a free screen replacement in the first 6 months of use from the date of purchase.
