The latest leaked photo of Xiaomi 12 Ultra suggests it will be a photography beast. On the back, it will get up to 5 sensors

Xiaomi is preparing its next flagship smartphone, Xiaomi 12 Ultra, which—true to tradition—will be focused on mobile photography. And thanks to new information leaks, we already know the device will feature up to five sensors for the rear cameras.

Xiaomi 12 Ultra: Up to 5 rear cameras

At the December press conference, we finally got the flagship devices Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro, but the manufacturer didn’t introduce the top model aimed at mobile photography Xiaomi 12 Ultra. It should be a direct successor to last year’s Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, which is officially sold on the Slovak and Czech markets.

Xiaomi 12 Pro.

The reason for this delay is quite simple: the Chinese company needs a little more time to build this year’s most ambitious model in its lineup. However, new information about the upcoming device is gradually emerging, and we now know how many sensors will be on the back—even including a render from Letsgodigital.

This is the camera module

A new information leak confirms a bulky camera module that protrudes from the back of the device. On the Chinese social network Weibo, a full lineup of cameras has been posted. It should be a combination of 50 MPx + 48 MPx + 48 MPx + 48 MPx.

The main one is a 50 MP sensor marked Samsung GN5, with a size of 1/1.57″ and pixels sized 1 μm. Above it, in the same module, a 48 MP lens with 2x optical zoom will most likely also be located; below it, in turn, there will be a 48 MP sensor with 5x optical zoom.

Finally, there will also be a 48 Mpx sensor with 10x optical zoom. That means you’re looking at a truly powerful photography setup focused on capturing details from longer distances.

An infrared sensor won’t be missing, either, along with a Leica partnership

The mentioned four sensors are completed by a fifth one—an infrared depth-sensing module. A practical extra is also a dual-tone LED flash that will help you in worse lighting conditions.

Moreover, the latest piece of info we can share is that a Xiaomi collaboration with Leica is almost certain. The German company, which has long been operating in the photography industry, would in this case provide support alongside Xiaomi’s AI innovations.

This connection hasn’t been officially announced yet, but with the highest likelihood, we’ll see the end of the partnership with the competing Chinese manufacturer Huawei.
