Updated: Will Xiaomi 13 finally be introduced as Xiaomi 14? New package photos and a system screenshot suggest it

We’re already waiting for the moment when Xiaomi will officially announce the presentation date of its new flagship models. Until now, we thought the series would be called Xiaomi 13, but the company could tweak this branding slightly.

This week, Qualcomm officially unveiled a new flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which, as Xiaomi has also confirmed, will power the upcoming flagships of the Chinese giant.

Updated article: The photos are fake

The portal Xiaomiui.net pointed out that the alleged leaked Xiaomi 14 packaging photos and a system screenshot are fake news. This was confirmed by Wang Hua, a higher-ranking official, on his Weibo profile, where he denied any reports about Xiaomi 14.

In his words, the flagship presentation will go ahead as normal, with the model being labeled Xiaomi 13.

Finally as Xiaomi 14?

However, it didn’t reveal what the news will be called, which could lead to various speculations. Since we already have the logo of the new version of the MIUI 14 skin out, the smartphone name could be connected to that.

Logically, it would mean Xiaomi 13 smartphones, because they’d be successors to the 12S series, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Still, it seems the company could skip that number and launch its next flagship as Xiaomi 14.

Leaked photos of the smartphone box also confirm it — they come from retail sellers. On the box it’s clearly stated that it will be labeled Xiaomi 14, and they also confirm a partnership with Leica.

Images shared on the Chinese social network Weibo also reveal the specifications of the base model with the code name 2211133C, i.e., the model intended for China.

Under the helm of the latest Snapdragon

The processor will be the already-confirmed chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with a maximum clock speed of 3.2 GHz, and the RAM capacity could go up to 12 GB. It’s also no surprise that you’ll get the latest Android 13 from the box together with the MIUI 14 overlay.

From the leaked renders, Xiaomi 14 will look like the latest iPhones and will get a square camera module. The main sensor will have a 50-megapixel resolution, with two additional sensors alongside it.

The display will have a 6.2-inch with Full HD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Good news: support for up to a 67-watt wired charging as well.
