Xiaomi 17 has been sold in China since September, but the global version was shrouded in questions until now. However, that’s changing. In the Geekbench database, a model 25113PN0EG has appeared—meaning it’s the global version—and, according to everything, it’s the final testing phase ahead of a big January launch.

If you remember, Xiaomi skipped the 16 series this year and went straight for a premium compact model that instantly impressed with its small build, a huge 7000 mAh battery, and top-tier specs.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will deliver brutal performance

New entries from Geekbench show that the international version will keep everything that was good in the Chinese one. It runs on Android 16, has 12 GB RAM, and under the hood it uses the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with two ultra-fast cores clocked at 4.61 GHz and six cores running at 3.63 GHz. So you’re looking at one of the most powerful chips that will appear in phones in 2026. The GPU is again Adreno 840, so gaming performance definitely won’t be a weak spot.

Xiaomi also isn’t going all-in on raw power with the 17 model. This is a return to compact flagship phones—something that’s getting harder to find these days. The phone has a 6.3-inch LTPO display, extremely thin bezels, and a body that’s only 8 mm thick. And even with that, Xiaomi managed to fit a 7000 mAh Si/C battery inside, which—according to internal tests—lasts longer than most big 6.7-inch flagship models.

Xiaomi 17 also stands out with its camera setup

On the photography scene, the phone builds on a trio of 50 MPx Leica cameras. The main sensor Light Fusion 950 belongs to the absolute top tier, the telephoto lens can focus from as close as 10 cm, and the ultra-wide camera maintains premium brightness and corner-to-corner detail. The front 50 MPx camera with autofocus finally moves “selfies” to a level that actually makes sense for flagship models.

For those considering buying the Chinese version before the global release, it’s also important to mention the compatibility situation. Xiaomi 17 from China works here without any issues—it supports all 4G/5G bands, Google services, banking apps, and NFC payments. The unpleasant details are the missing Slovak language and the likely non-functionality of Android Auto, though many people can live with that. Everything else is fine—updates arrive via OTA as usual.

Global launch next month!

The global launch should, based on the available information, take place as early as January 2026, which also makes sense given that test units are already showing up in benchmarks. The European price is not known yet, but traditionally it will be higher than the Chinese one. Even so, it looks like Xiaomi has an exceptionally strong contender for “compact phone of the year” on its hands.

So if you’re waiting for a small, extremely powerful flagship model with solid battery life, Xiaomi 17 looks very promising — the global version is coming in just a few weeks.
