Xiaomi, together with Fengmi Technology, launched the ForMovie 4K Cinema laser projector, which has been on sale since last year.
This is a product from a crowdfunding campaign on the well-known e-commerce platform YouPin.
Global version with Android TV system
Xiaomi Fengmi Formovie 4K Cinema Laser Projector is now available even in the official global version made for Europe. The advantage is customs-duty-free delivery completely free of charge. VAT is already included in the product price, so customs checks won’t be an issue.
The benefit of the global version is the preinstalled Android TV 9.0 system directly from Google, made for use in Europe. Thanks to that, you can use services like Chromecast, the popular YouTube app, or Netflix.

What’s interesting is that Fengmi Technology manufactures laser projectors for Xiaomi, which are sold under their own Mijia brand. It’s also behind the WeMax laser projector. Now they’re presenting their own model.
The device offers an image with a diagonal of up to 150-inches, in 4K resolution. The ForMovie 4K Cinema projector uses Texas Instruments' digital light processing technology.
As a result, the projected image is brighter with realistic detail across its entire surface. The projector delivers the image in native 4K Ultra HD resolution, i.e. 3840 x 2160 pixels. It can also project 3D movies using Dlp-link 3D glasses.
The light source has a brightness of up to 5000 lumens, enabling projection in 1700 / 2000 ANSI lumens brightness. With HDR10 technology, you can clearly see details even in dark scenes. Thanks to its native contrast ratio of 3000:1, it achieves top-tier realistic visuals with more faithful colors.
The light source has a lifespan of over 25,000 hours. It produces a so-called diffused image with lower blue light intensity, which is gentler on the human eyes.
The projector includes a built-in infrared sensor that monitors the area in front of the device. If it detects a person getting closer, it immediately reduces the image brightness, preventing glare or possible eye damage.
The projector features a new laser display technology ALPD 3.0, which provides a more natural color reproduction.
MIUI TV environment and 64 GB memory
The ForMovie 4K Cinema projector comes with the MIUI TV system, just like other Xiaomi laser projectors. The built-in storage has a capacity of 64 GB, which is enough even for a large number of apps and folders.
The projector is also equipped with 2 GB DDR3 RAM, which can run multiple apps at the same time. The package also includes a pair of stereo speakers with a total output power of 30 W. For a better experience, the projector was fitted with DTS-HD technology, which enhances the sound.
As for connectivity, it doesn’t lack dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, 3 x HDMI 2.0b, USB 3.0 and 2.0, an SPDIF connector, Ethernet (RJ45), as well as an audio output and input. The projector comes with a remote control with voice control.
