As Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro gradually makes its way to its users, various experiences and tests of this fairly new flagship are also being shared. One such is also a water-resistance test video.
Is Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro water-resistant?
According to official sources, this year’s Xiaomi flagship has no certification that would guarantee this. The only safety factor in this area is the increased resistance of P2i Nano Coating.
P2i Nano Coating is a coating on the smartphone’s body that helps repel water from the device and thus provides protection against soaking the important parts. In general, this standard is considered sufficient protection against water splashes, rain, and similar.
But we know from the past that, besides certified protection elements, Xiaomi also equips some of its smartphones with components designed to prevent liquid from getting into the phone’s interior.
In the past, we demonstrated this on the example of a disassembled smartphone, Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro (Redmi K20 Pro). However, the certification process is financially costly and also time-consuming. Ultimately, it increases the phone’s selling price and delays its market launch.
It seems the manufacturer is taking its own path. Although it increases water resistance in its smartphones, it does so quietly and without certification. One of the devices equipped this way could also be the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro.
Mi 10 Pro can withstand more than 5 minutes underwater
One of many YouTube channels, Geardo, tested the capabilities of Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro and put it up against a formidable opponent and a major enemy of electronics: water.
The smartphone held up very well, and it seems it even survived the demanding test without any damage. In the first part of the video, the smartphone was subjected to showering, which lasted quite a long time.
In the next part, the testers went even further and submerged the entire smartphone in water. In the final part, the Mi 10 Pro is submerged under the water surface, where it lasted without damage for 5 minutes.
No doubt, this durability test shows a major quality leap that Xiaomi made—not only in the internal components of its new flagship, but also in the design and construction quality.
In no way, however, we do not recommend that you try this or a similar test at home with your smartphone.
