Upgraded in every direction
Xiaomi’s new model is made practically from the same ABS plastic as its predecessors. It’s a matte black plastic that, despite its thinness, is quite durable.
Since practically everything was improved compared to the previous AirDots 2, we believe that the hinge, i.e. the opening lid, was reinforced as well.
The earbuds received 7.2 mm drivers, thanks to which the sound is louder, clearer, and higher quality. There’s also digital noise reduction when listening to music or making calls. There’s no shortage of the newer wireless standard Bluetooth 5.0, which has a range of 10 m.
20-hour battery life and USB C port
The battery has been increased up to 2x compared to the previous generation. Specifically, it’s a jump from the original 300 mAh to 600 mAh. In this case, however, it’s a charging case.
The earbuds themselves have a battery with a capacity of 46 mAh. You then charge the battery using the built-in USB C port, which the earbuds finally also got.
The controls have also been improved—this time they are not hardware-based, but fully touch. With multiple presses, or short and long presses, you can accept or reject a call, stop or start music, trigger the voice assistant, or activate a gaming mode that the earbuds also feature.
Besides their low weight, which is only 4,2 g, the earbuds are also equipped with the aforementioned gaming mode, which after turning it on reduces the overall latency of the earbuds.
Along with the small LED indicator located directly on the charging case, we also get a higher level of protection when worn, i.e. from sweat.
