Our review:
Powerful home router
The Wi-Fi router Xiaomi AC2100 supports the IPV6 protocol and is optimized for smart home features from Xiaomi. It comes with a gigabit Ethernet port and a gigabit dual-band Wi-Fi in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies.
It has built-in 4 high-performance antennas with a six-channel signal amplifier. The built-in antennas are designed to prevent signal or coverage reduction caused by incorrect antenna placement.
Excellent coverage without disruptive elements
The Xiaomi Mi WiFi Router AC2100 integrates two-way and four-way amplifiers with a low-interference design into wireless Wi-Fi chips to improve signal strength and coverage. There’s even a built-in NetEase UU accelerator, which boosts gaming performance on consoles when playing over the network.
Another highlight is a working LDPC error-correction algorithm (Low Density Parity Check Code), which improves the ability to suppress channel noise and increases transmission efficiency.
The AC2100 model is equipped with a dual-core high-speed 880 MHz processor and 128 MB of RAM. Together with 128 MB of storage, it ensures smooth connectivity for multiple devices at the same time.
The new model also includes Wave2 MU-MIMO (multiple input and multiple output), enabling simultaneous communication with multiple terminals.
Design focused on efficient cooling
The cylinder-shaped router has already proven itself in Xiaomi’s portfolio in the past. The reason isn’t only the built-in antennas, but also how it dissipates the generated heat.
The entire device features a three-dimensional heat-dissipation structure, and an airflow channel works together with a large-area heat sink to effectively reduce temperature.
