Xiaomi solved the biggest problem of massage guns. This new model has a long handle all the way to your back, plus a heated head

The biggest problem with massage guns is that you can’t massage your own back. Xiaomi Mijia Long Handle Fascia Gun 3 fixes it with a long seven-shaped handle that lets you reach your shoulder blades and lower back.

Long handle for your back, short for your legs

The handle is bent into a seven shape and is slightly flexible. You hold it with one hand in front of you, while the head presses on your shoulder blades, spine, or hips. The flexible part, according to Xiaomi, also absorbs vibrations, so your hand won’t ache during a longer massage.

Just slide in and twist the long handle. You can detach it just as easily. Without it, you have a regular compact hand gun for your hands, thighs, and calves. With the long handle it measures 399 mm and weighs about 695 g altogether.

Heated head up to 45 °C

The heating has a flat head and you can set it to three levels: 38, 42 and 45 °C. According to a review on the Chinese portal Sina, it reaches the selected temperature in 30 seconds. You can heat it even without a massage, for example as a compress—like for a stiff neck after a day at the computer. Or you can turn the heat on together with the impacts.

Apart from the flat head, the package includes a ball head for big muscles and a U-shaped head for the area around the spine and calves. Only the flat head can be heated.

Two impact modes and a light that monitors pressure

Brushless motor delivers force of 12 kg to a depth of 6 mm. In the fixed-frequency mode it hits 1600, 2300, or 2800 times per minute. The variable mode varies the tempo—e.g., at the third level between 2200 and 2800 impacts per minute.

Around the controls there’s a light ring that shows how hard you’re pressing the gun. When it’s not lit, you’re pushing lightly—white means an appropriate pressure, and orange means too strong. The gun remembers the last mode, so when you turn it on again, it continues from where you left off.

Battery for a month of massages

Inside there’s a battery with a capacity of 1900 mAh, which charges via USB-C. At the lowest setting, according to the manufacturer, it lasts about 5 hours. With a 10-minute massage every day, you’ll charge it roughly once a month. With heating, expect a shorter runtime.

Charging via USB-C is an advantage of the Chinese version. You don’t need a plug adapter—just a regular mobile charger with at least 10 W. The package also includes a storage pouch.

How does it compare to Xiaomi Mijia H3

Heating is also available on the bigger Xiaomi Mijia H3 massage gun. It delivers 25 kg of force to a depth of 10 mm and has a 2450 mAh battery. That makes it a better fit for big muscles after a workout. However, it weighs 837 g, and you still won’t reach your own back with it.

Long Handle Fascia Gun 3 is weaker, but it’s also not meant for training. It’s supposed to loosen your neck and back at home—e.g., after a full day of sitting. Xiaomi also classifies it as a gun for everyday loosening. H3 recommends it for more intensive recovery after sports.

Chinese version: what to watch out for

The gun doesn’t need an app or any connection—you control everything with the buttons with symbols on the handle. The manual is in Chinese, but the gun has only three buttons, so you’ll figure it out even without it. Warranty is handled by the seller GShopper.
