Our favorite Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi officially introduced its new smart glasses under its partner brand Mijia—with built-in speakers integrated right into the frame itself. There’s also a stylish design and a sensible retail price.
Smart glasses from Xiaomi Mijia
Can you imagine a combination of wireless “true-wireless” earbuds and stylish glasses? At first hearing, it sounds like a sci‑fi movie title fantasy. But that’s not the case—this is exactly the kind of product a Chinese manufacturer is offering under the name Xiaomi Mijia Smart Audio Glasses. It blends fashion and a music experience into one device.
Apart from being a stylish product, it also has a genuinely competitive price—so you can try out this technology across a wide range of users in the tech market.
Touch controls and up to 10 hours of music listening
The rounded Wayfarer-style shapes are complemented by a matte black color finish and an ultra-low weight of just 38 grams. You’ll especially appreciate this during long wear or while listening to music. Inside—within the slightly thicker “tentacles” on the sides—there’s the equipment of the integrated speakers themselves.
There are 128 mm dynamic drivers that work using “Bone Conduction” technology, creating vibrations through the small bones under your ear. This technology has already appeared in several products, especially fitness earbuds. The manufacturer bet on 360° spatial sound and a 30 mm touch panel for interacting with the playing music.
What’s more, these smart technologies are placed in the side parts of the glasses. They’re removable, so you can attach them to other compatible eyeglass frames. There’s also a built-in battery that lasts up to 22 hours of use. This runtime drops to 10 hours if you listen to music exclusively through the glasses.
For making phone calls, you have multiple built-in microphones with ambient noise reduction technology. This ensures a clean audio experience for you as well as for the other person on the call. In terms of connectivity, there’s Bluetooth 5.2, which improves battery-life efficiency and delivers high connection quality.
Price and availability of the new product
The new Xiaomi Mijia Smart Audio Glasses starts selling in the Chinese market from April 12, 2023, via the crowdfunding platform Xiaomi YouPin. The launch retail price is 799 Chinese yuan. In the current conversion, that’s about €106. We don’t have any further information about potential global availability—you’ll have to rely on imports from international sellers.
