Xiaomi Mijia Thermostatic Electric Kettle 2: A new smart kettle with an OLED display

It seems Xiaomi is stocking us with one new product after another these days. Of course, these are Chinese product launches, and the list will also include a new smart kitchen kettle called Xiaomi Mijia Thermostatic Electric Kettle 2.

The new model is very similar to its predecessor that we saw in stores last September. However, there are several improvements right away, while this kettle still keeps a minimalist design with a matte white finish.

It’s true that this model has a slightly lower capacity compared to the previous generation mentioned above. The water tank holds 1.5 liters, and should be enough for everyday use at home. Plus, the kettle has a power output of 1800 W, so any type of liquid can boil in less than 5 minutes.

The big advantage is the integrated OLED panel. It has a circular shape, sits on the front, and lets you choose the temperature you want your water to be heated to. There are modes for 45 °C, 60 °C, 70 °C or 85 °, and the smart kettle can even keep that temperature for a set amount of time.

The inside of the kettle is made from high-quality 304 stainless steel, which is ideal for food contact. This steel doesn’t produce any kind of smell and is resistant to rust. The brand also promises long-lasting operation of up to 10,000 uses, thanks to the built-in thermostat from the well-known British company STRIX.

Price and availability of the new smart kettle

The new Xiaomi Mijia Thermostatic Electric Kettle 2 was officially unveiled on the home market, i.e., the Chinese market. The official retail price of this product is 169 Chinese yuan. In the current conversion, that’s roughly about €24 or $25. As for potential international availability, we currently don’t have any other information.
