The well-known MIX series from Xiaomi, which previously surprised with technological innovations, could reportedly make a comeback to the market based on the latest reports. The last model, called Xiaomi MIX 4, was unveiled back in 2021 and stood out mainly for its front camera hidden directly under the display. Although this technology faced its fair share of criticism, the manufacturer is allegedly not ready to give it up.
News about Xiaomi MIX 5 in our FB group
According to a reliable source, Kartikey Singh, the new model is expected to be called Xiaomi MIX 5 and will be a direct successor to MIX 4. Xiaomi’s goal is still to achieve the cleanest possible full-screen front design—without notches or cutouts. The novelty could particularly appeal to those who want a revolutionary design without any compromises.
The MIX series as a lab for innovations
Smartphones in the MIX series have always served as an experimental platform for bold technologies. From bezel-less displays, to ceramic chassis, to the futuristic Mi MIX Alpha. After Mix 4, Xiaomi started focusing on foldable devices, but MIX 5 could bring the series back to its original mission—delivering something that nobody else has.
In addition, a tipster known as Digital Chat Station suggests that the new generation of under-display selfie camera technology is already advanced enough to appear in a real retail model. Xiaomi could be the first manufacturer to roll out this technology at scale in the premium smartphone segment.
That’s what he wrote on his profile on the social network Weibo:
“As for the under-display front camera, there currently isn’t any model in mass production yet, but the relevant technology is constantly evolving and is practically at the highest level across the entire industry. Mass production will come at the right time, and I’m confident about that at a level of 98,3721 %.”
At some point the true Full Screen smartphones will be a trend again.

Thoughts on MIX 4 and what to expect from MIX 5
MIX 4 was the first device from the brand to come with an under-display camera, but user and reviewer reactions were lukewarm. The limited photo quality and the clearly visible camera spot under the display meant the device didn’t get as much attention as the manufacturer would have wanted. This could also have led to the series’ development being temporarily paused.
However, it’s already been four years, and the technologies have advanced. If MIX 5 really makes it to the market, we expect an improved implementation of the under-display sensor, higher brightness, and more accurate color reproduction in the area under the display where the camera is located. Combined with a powerful chipset, premium design, and fast charging, it could be an attractive flagship of the year.
Unveiling date and availability
Xiaomi has not officially confirmed MIX 5 yet, but several older leaks suggest that its unveiling could still happen during 2025. With this move, the manufacturer would once again breathe life into the MIX series, which still has a strong reputation among tech enthusiasts. Fans of this line can therefore be legitimately excited.
If MIX 5 manages to push the boundaries of design and technology the way its predecessors did, Xiaomi will once again show that it knows how to surprise. In combination with the improving quality of its cameras and system optimization, it could be one of the most interesting smartphones of the year.
