True fans of the Chinese giant Xiaomi will definitely remember 2019, specifically September, when the company unveiled the breathtaking smartphone Xiaomi Mi MIX ALPHA to the world.
Since then, a few long weeks have already passed, and the Chinese manufacturer is reminding the public again with a new patent that, for now, has relatively little to say. If everything goes well, it should eventually lead to a successor called Xiaomi MIX ALPHA 2.
At the beginning there is a patent…
Sharp-eyed brand fans have only recently spotted a newly registered patent from Xiaomi on the internet, which, most likely, reveals a rough concept of the Xiaomi MIX ALPHA 2 smartphone.

The successor to a revolutionary smartphone that was never started for commercial production looks like it will push the boundaries a bit further. For now, we can’t say for sure whether it completely eliminates any physical “islands” on the device’s body, but at least it will deliver an unreal feeling during use.
Whether that feeling will be practical or not, we’ll find out with time. An interesting piece of information that appeared online in connection with this patent is that both the front and rear camera module are completely under the display.
Thanks to that, the premium feel will be even more amplified—and Xiaomi MIX ALPHA 2 could become a very interesting device. As we mentioned, only practice will show whether demand for a smartphone like this is high enough for mass production.
After all, Lei Jun himself said about the original MIX ALPHA that it’s just a kind of experiment and that mass-producing such a device would be extremely expensive. Not only we are curious what—and whether—anything has changed since 2019.
