It wasn’t so long ago when the foldable models Xiaomi MIX Flip and Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 were introduced. Now we have them available exclusively for testing. What are our first impressions?
Where did we order the Xiaomi MIX Flip and MIX Fold 4 from?
Our goal is to get our hands on the hottest Xiaomi news as soon as possible. To be among the first, we need to get the Chinese versions. If the given model supports, for example, B20 band and there’s no issue using it in our area, we don’t hesitate and usually order from the online store TradingShenzhen, with which we have excellent experience.
We ordered the smartphones on July 31 and the package arrived on August 9. So during the summer months, delivery within 10 days is definitely possible, which is great. Full support for our local networks
Xiaomi MIX Flip and MIX Fold 4 are currently available only for the Chinese market. However, that doesn’t have to be a problem, because both models support LTE B20 band. The system is completely in English. It’s definitely possible to use them with Chinese software as well. Even contactless NFC payments through the Google Wallet app work. Unfortunately, Android Auto won’t run (at least not without root).
We were pleased with full 5G network support and working notifications. Compared to other smartphones, notifications arrive a little late, but that could be because we have one account signed in on multiple devices that are online at the same time. We’ll test the reliability of notification delivery more thoroughly, and you’ll learn the details later in full reviews that we’ll start working on soon.
The worse part was the pre-installed apps, which in many cases are in Chinese. The problem was not uninstalling them, though. With these phones, you can comfortably use them day-to-day.
We can now already assume that Xiaomi MIX Flip will almost certainly be a foldable “clamshell” with the best battery life. It has a battery with a capacity of 4780 mAh and supports 67 W charging. With the same maximum power, you can charge the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 as well.
It has a 5100 mAh battery, which so far looks to be pretty similar in battery life compared to the “Flip”. This model also supports wireless charging, up to 50 W.
Foldables are unlocked using a fast and precise fingerprint scanner located in the power button. The new devices look futuristic, and they give us the feeling of very premium devices – that’s how it should be. So far, we haven’t run into any major problems, and we believe we won’t run into them even after a few days of use.
