Just a week ago, Xiaomi also unveiled the second generation of its foldable smartphone, under the MIX Fold 2 branding. It’s celebrating the success, too, as it managed to sell out on the Chinese market in just a few minutes.
Sold out in 5 minutes
As soon as it officially started selling in the Chinese market, it triggered a real buying frenzy. The company announced that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 smartphone was sold out within five minutes of going on sale, even though it didn’t publish the exact number of units sold or the memory variants.
Either way, it’s another great success for Xiaomi. Even if it’s not a cheap device. If we look at the official Chinese prices, the base model 12+256 GB is sold for 8 999 yuan, which is about 1 291 euros. The 12+512 GB version will cost 9 999 yuan (1 434 euros), and the price of the top variant with 12 GB RAM and 1 TB storage is 11 999 yuan (1 721 euros).
As for the specs, this is truly a masterpiece. The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 stands out especially for its thickness: just 5.4 mm when unfolded and 11.2 mm when folded, making it the thinnest foldable smartphone in the world—while also weighing only 262 grams.
Two displays and the best processor
Since it’s a foldable smartphone, it has two displays. The external one with a 6.5-inch diagonal runs at 120 Hz, and the internal one has the same refresh rate, but the size is 8.02-inch with 2K+ resolution.
On the performance side, you get the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, a 4500 mAh battery that charges at 67 W. Xiaomi also didn’t forget about the Leica collaboration here: it uses a 50-megapixel primary sensor Sony IMX766, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens.
