The Chinese company Xiaomi is bringing a new gadget called Xiaomi One Finger Link. This device will bring a new Xiaomi UWB wireless transmission technology to older Xiaomi TVs too.
Xiaomi One Finger Link: New gadget for any TV
As we learned during the presentation of the new smartphone Xiaomi MIX 4, one of its features is also a new wireless communication technology Xiaomi UWB (also known as “One Finger Link”). The technology achieves precise spatial orientation down to the centimeter level, making the connection between your smartphone and smart home devices safer and more accurate.
That’s why the company also released an accessory called “Xiaomi One Finger Connected Companion”, which can be connected to older Xiaomi TVs as well. With this accessory, the TVs get Xiaomi UWB functionality. It’s a truly tiny “plug-and-play” device and in China it will be distributed for free. The zero-yuan rollout has already started on 20. August 2021 via the Xiaomi community app.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 and UWB support
The new flagship smartphone Xiaomi MIX 4 comes from the factory equipped with Xiaomi UWB (One Finger Link) wireless communication technology. This technology supports ultra-wideband 500 MHz across 65 GHz and 8 GHz frequencies.
Ultra-small pulses in nano-scale are transmitted via the UWB antenna located on the device body. And it’s thanks to this antenna that precise spatial orientation is ensured. A two-way TOF method is used to measure the distance between two devices, which is why the transmission error rate is only at the level of a few centimeters.
In terms of security, the signal of the Xiaomi UWB standard includes extremely precise encryption and timing locks. These are hard to intercept, and this signal is also able to withstand relay attacks.
The wider the bandwidth, the greater the signal’s ability to distinguish distance in environments with multiple devices. Xiaomi UWB uses an ultra-wide (500 MHz) radio frequency as mentioned. It can eliminate most interference from interfering signals, effectively reducing signal disruption.
By enabling Xiaomi UWB, Xiaomi ensured a stable and secure connection in the case of the Mi MIX 4 smartphone between your mobile phone and smart home devices. Thanks to this, you can also control your Xiaomi products safely with just one click.
