Today’s Xiaomi conference wasn’t just about the new Mi Band 4. Big news was also shown by the smart home appliance brand – Mijia. They introduced a new Xiaomi Mijia Smart Washing and Drying Machine Pro.
This is a continuation, or rather an improved version of Xiaomi Mijia washing machine with a dryer from the end of last year.
Available only in China, for an unbeatable price
The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Washing and Drying Machine Pro is available only on the Chinese market and it will likely stay that way. Importing it to Europe would be very expensive for individual orders, and Xiaomi has no plans to sell its washing machines in Europe through official channels for now.
We can only quietly envy the Chinese for this. Still, it’s worth your attention. In mainland China, you’ll be able to buy it for 2999 yuan, which is about €385 / 9900 CZK. The new Xiaomi washing machine, meanwhile, offers even more features than the competition, where Chinese prices start at €590 / 15,000 CZK. So Xiaomi also rules in the washing machine segment with pricing – at least in the Chinese market.
Award for design as well as an OLED display
Xiaomi products are not only affordable and packed with features, but also look great. Many of them carry a prestigious design award. The Mijia washing machine and dryer Pro earned two design awards – Red Dot Award 2019 and iF Desing Award 2019. And there’s nothing surprising about it. The washing machine’s design is truly impressive.
The washing machine’s exterior has angular shapes, making it look very modern. The standout feature is the dark black door, and you can’t miss the round OLED display on the front panel. Aside from the two buttons to power on and pause the washing machine, it’s the only element on the front side.
The display shows information about wash modes, and by rotating the round dial around the display, you can change the mode. You can also select the wash modes in the Mi Home mobile app, which offers even more options.
The front panel also includes a fabric softener drawer that you need to fill to the maximum volume. The washing machine then intelligently decides how much fabric softener it will use, based on the amount of laundry you’ve loaded.
22 wash modes, 11 drying modes
The washing machine has a capacity of 10 kilograms, while the dryer can dry up to 6 kg of laundry. The washing machine offers up to 22 wash modes, and the dryer has 11 drying modes. All modes can be selected in the Mi Home app.
The motor power for washing is 1800 W, and for drying it’s 1200 W or 1400 revolutions per minute. The washing machine also has a sterilization capability, and thanks to the higher water temperature it can remove up to 99.9% of bacteria from your clothes.
The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Washing and Drying Machine Pro also supports OTA firmware updates. The manufacturer will gradually improve any issues reported by users through the app. Smart features also include voice control via the XiaoAI voice assistant.
Three more new Xiaomi washing machine models
Xiaomi Mijia Smart Washing and Drying Machine 1S
In addition to the Pro version of the Mijia Smart Washing Machine and Dryer, a version labeled 1S was also unveiled. This model also has a wash and dry function, the washing machine capacity is 10 kg, and you can also control it by voice, with the same sterilization capability.
In the lineup, you’ll also find WiFi, 21 wash modes, and an equally powerful motor as in the Pro version — 1400 RPM. The Mijia Smart Washer and Dryer 1S will be available on the Chinese market for 2499 yuan, i.e. 320 € / 8200 kč. This model will also impress with its design, and it will come in silver and gold.
Xiaomi Mijia Washer 1A
Model 1A is the most affordable of the models presented, and it belongs to the Mijia family. However, it doesn’t include a drying function—only washing. Its price in China was set at 1699 yuan, which comes out to 220 € / 5600 kč. This washer has an 8 kg laundry capacity, offers 12 wash modes, and 97% stain-removal efficiency.
The front panel features classic buttons for control, as well as a rotary knob for selecting modes. The motor power is 1200 RPM.
Redmi 1S Automatic Washer
The last of the washing machines unveiled today is an upgraded, budget-friendly automatic washer model from Redmi. In its home market in China, it will be sold for a great price of 899 yuan, which is 115 € / 3000 kč in conversion.
It’s loaded from the top, has a 8 kg laundry capacity, and depending on how full the drum is, it can intelligently adjust both water inflow and electricity consumption. It offers 10 wash modes.
