An surprising type of product was introduced today by Lu Weibing – CEO of the Redmi brand. The company will sell along with the smartphone Redmi K30 5G also its own SIM card compatible with 5G mobile networks.
Supports 5G, data and calls
The new Redmi SIM card will work on the network of the Chinese operator Unicom and in addition to supporting 5G it will also support data transfer and calls on 4G as well as 3G networks. Its price will vary depending on the volume of data and calls provided.
All buyers who purchase the Redmi K30 5G at one of Xiaomi’s official stores in China will receive a new SIM card specially configured for this smartphone. The Redmi SIM card will be available in these variants:
- 20 GB of data + 50 minutes of calls for a price of approximately 6 € / 151 kč
- 30 GB of data + 100 minutes of calls for a price of approximately 9 € / 227 kč
- 40 GB of data + 200 minutes of calls for a price of approximately 13,50 € / 340 kč
In this way, the Redmi brand wants to bring all the benefits offered by the new high-speed 5G connection. The idea is also to make it possible for the new owner of the Redmi K30 5G smartphone to use all of its features as soon as possible and to the full extent.
Nevertheless, it is highly unlikely that we’ll see this new SIM card beyond China’s borders. When we look at Slovakia and the Czech Republic, we have to patiently wait for the 5G mobile network infrastructure to be built.
After that, it wouldn’t be a problem for Xiaomi or Redmi to also become a virtual operator here, offering similar services on one of our operators’ networks.
