Another product from the August press conference of Xiaomi is a new fitness band called Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro. It comes with a 1.74″ AMOLED display and battery life of up to 14 days.
Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro: 1.74″ AMOLED and Always-On feature
The new fitness band Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro offers an elongated metal processing of the construction with a thickness of just 9.9 mm. The weight of this accessory is 22.5 grams, and it also has a 5ATM certification—something especially appreciated by water sports fans.
The front is home to a large up to 1.74″ AMOLED display. It has a resolution of 480 x 336 pixels and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The resulting pixel density is 336 ppi. And the maximum brightness tops out at 600 nits—solid values for a fitness band or smartwatch.
More than 150 sports and NFC for Chinese payments
The manufacturer also paid attention to the thin bezels around the display. The panel takes up up to 73% of the front area, which you’ll appreciate especially when controlling software features via touch. The watch software also includes an Always-On function for the AMOLED panel, showing basic information.
Xiaomi improved heart-rate and blood-oxygen monitoring thanks to a new dual-channel sensor on the back. Heart-rate measurement accuracy is improved by 10%, and blood-oxygen measurement is more accurate by 5%.
Among the features, you’ll find tracking of the female cycle, or more than 150 types of sports activities with an advanced exercise evaluation algorithm. A new addition is a workout box monitoring feature.
The band also supports an NFC chip for mobile payments in China, as well as Chinese transit cards for public transportation or other tickets. However, it does not support international payments in Europe.
Another big advantage is integrated location detection via GNSS (support for GPS, Beidou, Glonass, Galileo, QZSS). With standard usage, the resulting battery life is up to 14 days on a single charge. However, we don’t know the exact battery capacity.
