At today’s big presentation by the Chinese giant Xiaomi, besides the top-tier foldable smartphone MIX Fold 2, we also got the Pro versions of the existing Xiaomi Watch S1 models. What upgrades does the Pro model bring?
The original Xiaomi Watch S1 model and the sporty S1 Active variant were introduced only in March this year. The design of the model is taken directly from the original smartwatches. So you’ll get stainless steel again, durable sapphire glass, and a nice leather strap. This time, the underside is made of ceramic. There’s also 5 ATM certification.
Digital crown and larger display
A new feature we haven’t seen in Xiaomi products yet is a rotating crown for more comfortable scrolling through content. It debuted in Apple’s Watches, but later this feature was adopted by various companies like Huawei. It should be paired with a pleasant haptic response.
At first glance, the bezels around the display look smaller. This is a step toward Xiaomi using a slightly larger 1.47-inch AMOLED panel. Besides the diagonal, it’s nothing like the original model, but you can set up over 100 watch faces here. Inside there’s an unknown processor with a manufacturing technology of 12 nm.
The watch interface called MIUI Watch is also preserved, just the way we already know it. You also get installable apps, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC for contactless payments via Xiaomi Pay. The body also includes a microphone and a speaker for calls or communication with a voice assistant.
Over 100 sports and a GPS sensor
The Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro can measure over 100 activities, with some of them recognized automatically as well. In addition, they track heart rate, blood oxygen levels, stress, and all the usual metrics like steps, calories, and more. Of course, there’s also a GPS sensor, so your route will always be measured accurately.
You can charge the watch with any wireless charger or a smartphone that supports reverse charging. Battery life should be about on par with the classic Xiaomi Watch S1 model.
For now, the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro smartwatches will only be sold in the home Chinese market, and their availability on the global market is very questionable. After all, the Xiaomi Watch S1 and S1 Active models later made it to international markets as well. Pricing is set at 1,499 yuan, which is about €216.
