The collaboration between Xiaomi and Ninebot in the personal transportation product segment is nothing new. However, on 17 December / in December, an event took place where the new products were presented. This is Ninebot E – a series of new electric scooters.
The Ninebot E series brings up to five models
The Ninebot E series models are top-notch electric scooters – short: e-scooters – and come with features that won’t leave you short of interested buyers. As we already mentioned, the series includes five models right away, and their main difference is the battery capacity, along with the resulting maximum range and maximum speed.
- Ninebot E80 C – has a motor power of 1.2 kW (max 2.4 kW, 120 Nm), with which it reaches a speed of 51 km/h and has a range of 90 km on a single charge
- Ninebot E90 – has a motor power of 1.2 kW (max 2.4 kW, 120 Nm), a maximum speed of 55 km/h, and the range has been increased to 100 km
- Ninebot E100 – has a motor power of 1.8 kW (max 2.4 kW, 150 Nm), a maximum speed of 65 km/h, and a range of 100 to 200 km depending on how you ride
- Ninebot E125 – has a motor power of 2.4 kW (max 3.6 kW, 200 Nm), the maximum speed is 100 km/h, and the range is in the 120 to 240 km range depending on how you ride
- Ninebot E200P – motor power of 5 kW (max 10 kW, 300 Nm), maximum speed of 100 km/h, and at maximum speed the range is 200 km. It can be even higher depending on your riding style
The electric scooters in the Ninebot E series include some intelligent elements that allow them to adapt their operation or status. An e-scooter can recognize whether you’re in riding mode, pushing mode, or whether the rider has gotten on or off.
For example, when pushing uphill, the Ninebot scooter can actively assist. When the rider steps on, it automatically retracts the side stand. The same applies when stepping off: the stand automatically extends and the vehicle can also lock automatically.
Thanks to various sensors and intelligent activity recognition, in which the e-scooter currently finds itself, it can be conveniently controlled by pressing a single button.
Location services and more
Positioning and navigation services using GPS are already among the standards in this segment. If the e-scooter breaks down on the road, it will also provide an emergency SOS signal along with the driver’s location with exact coordinates.
In addition to location, Ninebot E also lets you remotely control locking and starting the alarm. This comes in handy if you forget where you parked. As for theft protection, the e-scooter has an active protection system, and the protection module includes sensors that protect the entire body.
Ninebot’s developers claim that the thief practically has no way to bypass the alarm system, even by destroying the module.
Probably the most important component in electric vehicles is the battery. The Ninebot E80C model uses a lead-acid battery system, which is waterproof with a IPX7 certification. Optimized charging and energy draining extend the battery’s lifespan. Ninebot claims that lead-acid batteries are less affected by outdoor temperature, and their performance remains the same even in extreme weather.
Other E-series models use a lithium battery with parameters of 72 V / 20 Ah. If the scooter hasn’t been used for a long time, it automatically prompts the user to start charging the battery pack. This helps prevent damage caused by prolonged non-use.
All Ninebot E series e-scooters come with the Segway – Ninebot 5.0 assistant. It displays key information on the screen in real time, such as vehicle speed, battery status, the number of kilometers driven, and many other details.
At a press conference, Ninebot representatives stated that the scooters have a built-in module similar to a “black box” in aircraft, which records data and supports better diagnostics in the event of a malfunction.
Other equipment includes an intelligent front headlight with an output of 2 100 lumens, a smartphone charging port, a comfortable 42 mm seat, and a 22-liter under-seat storage compartment.
