Xiaomi celebrates 15 years in the market, and as a gift for fans it brings a limited edition of the Watch S4 with the “15th Anniversary Edition” label.
However, this version differs from the standard S4 not only cosmetically—Xiaomi integrated its first custom 4G XRING T1 chip and raised the bar for smartwatches by a notch.
Custom chip, custom network
The biggest draw is definitely the new XRING T1 chip that Xiaomi designed entirely in-house. It includes a full-fledged 4G LTE modem, allowing the watches to support eSIM and work completely independently—without needing to be connected to a smartphone. For a walk, sports, or a phone call, you can rely on the watch on your wrist alone.
According to the manufacturer, the new modem is up to 35 % more efficient than the one used in the original S4. In practice, that means up to 9 days in eSIM mode on a single charge, and up to 15 days in the classic Bluetooth mode. You’ll also appreciate the fast magnetic charging via the 2-pin connector.
Premium design and features
Xiaomi didn’t stop at software and hardware innovations for this model. The watches received an elegant forged carbon-fiber frame that’s lightweight, durable, and visually impressive.
The body is made of aluminum with PVD finishing, and the entire construction weighs just 49 grams. There are two color versions available—black and the green “Green Flame”—and the manufacturer includes two straps with them: a rubber fluorocarbon strap and a textile one.
The display measures 1.43″ diagonally, with a resolution of 466 × 466 px, OLED technology, and a maximum brightness of up to 2200 nits—ensuring excellent readability even in direct sunlight. Of course, you also get features like dual-frequency GPS, NFC, 5 ATM water resistance, and the latest HyperOS 2, which ensures smooth integration with other Xiaomi products.
Health monitoring and new features
The health functions in this model are top-tier. The watches track heart rate, blood oxygen levels, stress level, sleep quality, don’t miss out on women’s health features, and add a new “Professional Skiing Mode 2.0”. A WeChat watch version has also been added, along with one of the most interesting new features—an option to display a live camera preview from your phone directly on the watch when remotely controlling the camera.
Thanks to the custom chip, they can also handle animated wallpapers, and the equipment includes WiFi 6, which guarantees reliable and fast connections with devices.
Price and availability
The Xiaomi Watch S4 15th Anniversary Edition is currently available only in China, priced at 1,299 yuan, which is about €160 / 4000 Kč. It’s not yet known whether it will reach the global market, but given the interest from fans outside China, it would be a shame if this kind of device stayed limited to the domestic region.
