Xiaomi hasn’t given up on tablets yet, a senior company representative claims

Xiaomi has clearly not given up on tablets in its tech ecosystem. The report comes after Li Chuangqi – the product director of the brand – answered several questions about tablets earlier this week.

Is Xiaomi planning any more tablets?

This question is being raised by many experts and fans of the Xiaomi brand. The latest devices released in this segment were in 2018. It was already the 4th generation of the Mi Pad model line. The Mi Pad 4 and Mi Pad 4 Plus models featured a Quacomm Snapdragon 660 chipset along with 4 GB LPDDR4X RAM.

The 8-inch model was equipped with a 6 000 mAh battery, while the 10-inch tablet’s battery capacity was 8 620 mAh. It’s already been more than a year since these tablets were released, and so far it’s not known to the general public whether the manufacturer has started—or hasn’t started—developing other similar devices.

In some areas, they still have relevance

In today’s trend of large mobile phones, many tasks that were meant for tablets have been taken over by smartphones. However, in many professional fields, there are still opportunities to use tablets that have an advantage over smartphones.

Probably the biggest pioneer in professional tablet use is Apple’s competition with its iPads. It’s often the first choice for creative professionals or people working on the go.

Even though the future of tablets is uncertain, there could be a significant leap in performance and battery life during development, which many chip manufacturers expect.

In general, smartphones are faster and more powerful than tablets, especially when comparing flagship models. That extra power can make them more viable for further work use, too, even with the added load.

Still, we’re talking purely in theory, and whether we’ll ever see another Xiaomi tablet again is uncertain.
