If you have one of these five Redmi smartphones, you’ll be disappointed. Xiaomi quietly dropped them from HyperOS 4 updates

Owners of REDMI Note 13 Pro 5G, Note 13 Pro+ and POCO X6 5G won’t get HyperOS 4. The website XimiTime published on November 3 a list of seven models that won’t receive the new OS version, and other websites have taken it over as well. But one phone and its twin don’t belong on the list, because Xiaomi is currently testing HyperOS 4 for it.

That’s why we checked the Telegram channel of the same site, which tracks every firmware version as soon as it appears on Xiaomi servers. For five models, the list holds, but for two it’s contradicted by the channel itself, XimiTime.

Which phones won’t get HyperOS 4

For REDMI Note 13 Pro 5G and its twin POCO X6 5G, not a single HyperOS 4 build ever appeared on the channel. The same applies to Note 13 Pro+ and to two Chinese models, REDMI K60 Pro and K70 Pro, which weren’t officially sold in Europe. All these phones run HyperOS 3 with Android 16. In Xiaomi’s official HyperOS 4 plan, published on November 3, none of them is included.

Xiaomi itself didn’t publish a list of discontinued phones. That they’ll be left out, however, is suggested by two things: they’re missing from the official schedule and no test version for them has arrived on Xiaomi’s servers either. Meanwhile, the models that get HyperOS 4 had internal builds already since summer. XimiTime also writes about HyperOS 4 on Android 16. But these phones have had Android 16 with HyperOS 3 for a long time, so such an update wouldn’t bring them anything new.

Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G isn’t on the list

For REDMI Note 13 Pro 4G and its twin POCO M6 Pro 4G, the situation is the opposite. Since the end of September, Xiaomi has been issuing a new HyperOS 4 test version for both the European and global ROM for them almost every day. All run on Android 17 as HyperOS 4 for other phones, and the latest global OS version OS4.0.0.8 was added today, on November 5.

These are still internal builds you can’t download to your phone. You’ll recognize the customer version by the zero at the end of the number, e.g. OS4.0.1.0, and the 4G model doesn’t have it yet. It’s also not in the schedule for November 3, so we don’t know the date. But the phone Xiaomi tests every day for over a month almost certainly will get the update.

Why the cheaper model gets more

All three phones came to Europe in January 2024 with Android 13 and since then have received three major updates up to Android 16. For the 5G models and Pro+, support for new Android versions ends, while the cheaper 4G model with the MediaTek Helio G99 Ultra chip will get the fourth. Xiaomi didn’t explain why it split things up like that.

If you own any of the discontinued phones, you’ll keep getting security patches. The global Note 13 Pro 5G received a new security update on October 27, and in the list of devices without support that Xiaomi maintains on its page, no Note 13 series model is missing. What you’ll miss most are HyperOS 4 features, for example the new design, AI voice memos, or better battery life. The dates for the phones that will receive the update can be found in the HyperOS 4 schedule.
