The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is preparing the next generation of its popular fitness bracelet. It should arrive already this month, labeled Xiaomi Mi Band 5. We know what it looks like from the first high-resolution image.
Design of Xiaomi Mi Band 5
At the moment, we already know the official launch date for the upcoming bracelet. It will be exactly June 11, 2020. Now the first high-resolution image is coming in, defining the bracelet’s design and some of its assumed features.
As has been repeatedly revealed, the new generation will come with few design changes on the outside. The construction will be very similar to the previous generation, and the display will slightly increase to a 1.2″ diagonal.
So there won’t be exterior upgrades, but they’re expected to be compensated for with improvements to the equipment and functionality. Thanks to the new features, the handling is supposed to improve as well as the usability of the new generation of the popular fitness bracelet Mi Band 5.
Voice assistant Amazon Alexa
From previous leaks, we know that the new version, which will be unveiled on 11. June, will also offer features we’ve been waiting for for a long time.
The European version should offer, for example, the voice assistant Amazon Alexa, while the Chinese version will continue to include mobile payments via NFC.
So, the European customer, through official distribution, still won’t get the requested payments via the NFC chip. Better days could be on the way, though—Xiaomi has released an improved version of the bracelet Mi Band 4, which supports contactless MasterCard payments even outside China, specifically in Russia. The rest of Europe, however, still has to wait.
What do we already know?
Mi Band 5 was supposed to come with better measurement of heart rate, the ability to measure SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation), and cycle tracking for women. There will also be a way to capture photos using the bracelet with your smartphone. That will make it easier to create great selfies and unforgettable experiences.
For sports enthusiasts, up to 5 new sports modes will be added: stationary bike, yoga, skipping rope, rowing machine, elliptical machine. The number of modes will thus increase to 11.
The new device, which will be officially presented almost exactly a year after the previous generation labeled Xiaomi Mi Band 4, should again offer an excellent price / performance ratio.
Are you considering buying the new generation of your fitness bracelet? Would you choose the Chinese or rather the European version of the device? Feel free to write us your thoughts and impressions in the discussion under the article.
