The IMILAB cameras were among the best-selling products on Xiaomi Planet for years, and we also tested the EC6 Panorama model in detail. However, in the last few weeks this camera has almost completely disappeared from AliExpress, and where it’s still sold, it costs more than it did at the time when we recommended it. If you already own it, there’s nothing to worry about—the camera keeps running in the Xiaomi Home app as before. But if you’re choosing a camera for your yard, you’ll have to look elsewhere, so we prepared a comparison Baseus Security X1 Pro vs IMILAB EC6 Panorama.
Because Baseus combined two things that Xiaomi sells in Europe only separately. The dual camera Xiaomi CW500 Dual needs a power outlet, while the solar Xiaomi BW400 Pro has just one lens. Both together are offered by Xiaomi Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro 4G Dual-Camera Edition, but it’s sold only in China, connects via a 4G SIM, and we don’t know anything yet about a European version. So in the comparison we also added the BW400 Pro, which we’ve also had in our hands.
Two 3K solar-powered lenses from the EU warehouse
Baseus Security X1 Pro is sold by the official European Baseus e-shop, which ships it from a EU warehouse, so it arrives in about 5 to 10 business days and you don’t pay customs duty or VAT on top. You have 14 days for returns. You can buy it with a 32 GB memory card included in the package or without it if you already have a card at home.

When IMILAB EC6 Panorama was commonly available, with our coupons it could be bought for roughly 60 to 100 €, so Baseus is more expensive. For the extra cost, however, you get a camera that doesn’t require running a cable, and a second lens that rotates separately.

Design and mounting: a panel on the arm, a ball for the wall, and a cube with the station
Baseus Security X1 Pro looks like two cameras in one white body, with a solar panel on the jointed arm above them. The included triple-axis mount keeps it on the wall, ceiling, pole, and even a tree, and the panel can be detached from the camera and placed where the sun shines for the longest. The rating is IP65 and it handles temperatures from −20 to 50 °C.
IMILAB EC6 Panorama is a significantly bulkier ball with dimensions of 128 × 192 × 201 mm and a weight of 1,010 g, which we mounted onto a wooden structure of a garden shed during our review. Its durability is one step better, IP66, and it works from −30 to 60 °C.

Xiaomi BW400 Pro is a white cube with a solar panel on top, and it also comes with a small base that you place at home by your router. Rain and frost can handle all three cameras outdoors. Baseus has a one-step lower rating, but as the only one it lets you place the panel separately from the camera.
Two lenses, but you use each of them differently
The word “dual” means two completely different things with Baseus and with IMILAB. EC6 Panorama builds the image from two lenses into one wide view 180° at 3.5K resolution, and the whole head rotates 344° left and right and 90° up and down. In the app during our review we could switch between the panorama and two separate views, and thanks to the high resolution, 6× zoom was usable even at maximum zoom.
Baseus Security X1 Pro has two separate modules with resolution 3K, each rotating independently. Without movement it sees 210°, with rotation it covers up to 300°, so from a corner of the house it can watch both the gate and the garden at the same time. When a person moves from the view of one lens to the other, according to the manufacturer the second lens takes over and tracks them without interruption. For details, such as a car registration number, you get 8× digital zoom.
Xiaomi BW400 Pro does not rotate at all, and with a single lens 2,5K it covers 113° across the width. In our test we rated the picture as very good, but for a larger property, one fixed camera is not enough. So in terms of coverage, Baseus wins; EC6 Panorama is the second option and offers the most comprehensive panoramic image.
Solar vs power outlet: this is where you decide
EC6 Panorama must be connected to a socket via an adapter 12 V, so a cable leads to it, and if you want a more stable connection, also a second one for LAN. On the facade at the entrance it’s fine, but you can’t put it on a fence, a garden shed, or a cabin without electricity. Baseus Security X1 Pro and Xiaomi BW400 Pro run on a battery that the sun charges, so you don’t need a cable.
Baseus has a battery 7 800 mAh and a panel with output 3 W, which according to Baseus automatically tilts toward the sun in a 120° range. The manufacturer claims this lets it collect roughly twice as much energy as a fixed panel, and for all-day operation 20 minutes of direct sun is enough. Without sun, the battery should last up to 150 days, and when a long, cloudy winter comes, you recharge it with the 5 V / 2 A adapter for about five and a half hours.

Xiaomi BW400 Pro has a larger 10 000 mAh battery with a stated runtime of 180 days, and a panel built directly into the body. In our spring test it charged itself from 77 to 99% and we didn’t have to charge it even once, but its panel cannot be tilted. On paper, BW400 Pro has a bigger reserve, but Baseus lets you rotate the panel toward the sun, even if the camera itself is looking north.
Night, notifications and subscriptions
In the dark, all three color modes and also the black-and-white mode are available. Baseus shines with a reflector with a luminous flux of 100 lm and adds it with twelve infrared diodes; IMILAB and Xiaomi have four LEDs each. We praised the night recording of the EC6 Panorama in our review, but with the BW400 Pro, a moving person at night was less sharp.
The motion alerts from Xiaomi Home on both cameras sometimes left us disappointed. EC6 Panorama often warned about a person even when nobody was there, while BW400 Pro sometimes captured only the second person when there were two. Baseus distinguishes a person, a face, an animal, and a car directly in the camera via the NeuraNex 2.0 system, and it also uses a PIR sensor that, according to the manufacturer, should reduce the number of false alarms. We haven’t verified it ourselves yet.
A key difference is the subscription. For EC6 Panorama, the cloud is free only for the first three months, and then short videos from notifications won’t display without a subscription, even though continuous recording to the card still works. Xiaomi also gives the same three months of cloud for free with BW400 Pro. Baseus stores recordings locally without monthly fees and supports microSD cards up to 512 GB, i.e. twice as large as with IMILAB and Xiaomi.
App: Xiaomi Home or standalone Baseus
If you have a Xiaomi ecosystem at home, IMILAB and Xiaomi are where you get the biggest advantage—right in the app. Both cameras run in the Xiaomi Home app, so you can add them to automations with other devices and control the whole home from one place. Baseus Security X1 Pro has its own Baseus app, and you can’t add it to Xiaomi Home, but with home assistants like Alexa and Google Home it works just as well as the competitors.
When it comes to connection, IMILAB and Xiaomi have the upper hand thanks to the LAN port. Baseus connects only via Wi-Fi 2,4 GHz, so you need to place the camera where the signal from the router still reaches, or help yourself with a Wi-Fi signal booster.
Which camera should you choose?
Baseus Security X1 Pro is for you if you want to cover the whole yard with one camera and there’s no outlet for it. It’s great for the corner of a house, a fence, a garden shed, and a cottage—no subscription, and with a 512 GB card you can fit plenty of recordings. You’ll have to deal with the proprietary app outside Xiaomi Home and with connection only via Wi-Fi 2,4 GHz.
IMILAB EC6 Panorama is worth it if you already have it or you can get it somewhere for a reasonable price and you have an outlet for it. It has the most useful panorama, continuous recording to the card, and wired LAN connection, and it runs in Xiaomi Home—so for the façade near the entrance it will still serve you very well.
Xiaomi BW400 Pro is your pick if you want a solar camera in Xiaomi Home and one fixed view is enough—for example, for the front door or a gate. For a large property, its fixed lens will be too limited, and that’s where Baseus comes out better in the long run.
