Do you also have smart products in your home? Intelligent functions have already made their way into so-called white goods. The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi brings you its most advanced smart washing machine to date. It offers a capacity of up to 10 kilograms, a dryer, and a mobile app as well.
Xiaomi brings a new washer with a dryer
The new model is coming to the Chinese retail market with the official label Xiaomi Mijia Washing and Drying Machine Exclusive Edition. However, the label “Exlusive Edition” is not just there for decoration. It is in fact the flagship model from the manufacturer, featuring advanced functions and an improved design and control.
The washing machine impresses already at first glance thanks to its slim design with a depth of only 550 millimetres. It offers a capacity of up to 10 kilograms of laundry and, besides various washing and drying programs, it also includes a disinfection program, automatic detergent and fabric softener dispensing, or integration with the Xiaomi Home mobile app.
The detergent and fabric softener are distributed evenly by the washing machine based on the needs and the selected program, preventing them from clumping or from producing too much foam. The detergent drawer is also waterproof and has a capacity of approximately 20 wash cycles.
Disinfection, a touch display, and gentle programs
In times of the spreading coronavirus, disinfection via a steam system will also delight you, as will the door with an antibacterial seal that prevents up to 99% of harmful bacteria from getting through.
Built-in micro steam nozzles also help prevent strong odours such as alcohol, tobacco, or other odours infused in long garments like coats. Steam also works as a guarantee of perfectly cleaning children's clothing or plush toys, and is meant to help prevent potential allergies.
This new washing machine model does not include a belt or mechanical bearings, which—besides extending the lifespan of the drum itself—reduces noise and vibrations during use. The drum contains rubber paddles and uses a special membrane that is gentle on clothes and prevents excessive friction.
Among the 22 optional washing programs, you’ll also find extra-fast options that wash and dry your laundry in just 60 minutes. Gentle settings for silk and wool are also included. The washing machine features a touch, color screen that is tilted by 32°, making it easier to read. The construction also includes 26 touch buttons, a Wi‑Fi connection indicator, and a child lock.
Price and availability of the new product
A new washing machine with a dryer, labeled Xiaomi Mijia Washing and Drying Machine Exclusive Edition, will go on sale via the Xiaomi YouPin crowdfunding platform and other local Chinese retailers. Pre-orders in China started on 3 December 2021, but official sales will begin on 12 December 2021.
The official Chinese retail price is 3499 Chinese yuan, which at the current conversion is about 485 € / 549 USD. There’s also a discounted launch price of 2999 Chinese yuan (416 € / 470 USD). We currently have no official information about international availability.
