This is the global version of the system that you can download right now directly through Settings. With this move, Xiaomi skips the traditional beta phase and delivers a stable release to a wider range of users right away.

HyperOS 2.3 and Android 16: What’s new?

The HyperOS 2.3 update is based on OS Android 16, which Google unveiled just a few weeks ago. Xiaomi didn’t waste time and, as one of the first manufacturers, brought this version to its devices as well. Visually, you’ll get improved animations, smoother motion, and a general boost in system performance.

Among other changes, we can mention a new status bar and a subtle blur effect in some system elements. Of course, there are also the security patches that come along with Android 16.

Before you install the update, Xiaomi recommends backing up your data completely. Even though this is a stable version, the system may show minor issues during the first few days of operation—such as higher device temperature or slower responses from some apps.

Some system apps may still not be fully optimized for the new Android 16, so you might run into minor quirks. If you prefer a completely polished environment, it may be smarter to wait a few days. Otherwise, you can still try the benefits of the latest system among the first users.

Xiaomi states that due to the global rollout, it may take a few days for the update to appear on all devices. Still, patience is definitely worth it. After the Xiaomi 15 model, the update will likely follow for the Xiaomi 14T Pro next and for the Chinese variant Redmi K70 Ultra.
