Get a cheaper Redmi, POCO, or older Xiaomi from 2023? With HyperOS 4, you get it—Xiaomi tests it on 50 phones

Quick summary

  • Test builds of HyperOS 4 for 50 phones
  • Even Xiaomi 13 and 13T from 2023
  • Even the cheapest REDMI 15C or POCO C85

For major updates, Xiaomi usually focuses mainly on expensive phones. That doesn't seem to be the case with HyperOS 4. We went through all the internal builds captured since August 14 by the Telegram channel XiaomiTime. In the European and global versions, Xiaomi is preparing it for 58 devices, including 50 phones. These include the cheapest models and three-year-old flagship phones as well.

Xiaomi has been rolling out the stable version since October 15, so far only in China. We covered the schedule here. There is no date for Europe yet. However, the internal builds show which phones are already running the new system in testing.

Flagship models from 2023 are next in line too

HyperOS 4 builds with Android 17 were received by the whole Xiaomi 13 lineup: the standard Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro, 13 Ultra, 13T and 13T Pro. Xiaomi 13, 13T and 13T Pro also have a build in the European version. For 13 Pro and 13 Ultra, we have only seen the global version so far.

From 2024, the list includes Xiaomi 14, 14 Ultra, 14T, 14T Pro and the foldable MIX Flip. Among POCO models, there are F6, F6 Pro and X6 Pro. For most of them, new builds also appeared on 15 October.

The biggest surprise is Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G, which is also sold as POCO M6 Pro 4G. In August, we ranked it among the models that won't get HyperOS 4. Since then, 70 internal builds have appeared for it, 30 in the European version and 40 in the global version.

The cheapest REDMI and POCO

Xiaomi is also testing the new system on the cheapest phones in its lineup. Most of them have a build in both the European and global versions:

  • REDMI 15C 4G and POCO C85 4G
  • REDMI 15C 5G, POCO C85 5G and REDMI 17C 4G
  • REDMI 17 4G and POCO C95 Pro
  • REDMI 17 and POCO M8x 5G
  • REDMI 15 4G and POCO M7 4G
  • REDMI 15, POCO M7 Plus and POCO M8s (so far only the global version)
  • Redmi Note 14 4G (so far only the global version) and Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G
  • REDMI Note 15 5G and POCO M8 5G
  • REDMI Note 15 Pro 4G
  • Redmi Note 17 5G and POCO M8 Power

In these pairs, it's the same phone that Xiaomi sells under two names. So a build for one of them also applies to the other.

POCO C85
The cheap POCO C85 is also on the list

The mid-range category is almost completely covered in the list

From the popular mid-range segment, Redmi Note 14 Pro and POCO X7 have builds (so far global only), Note 14 Pro+, POCO X7 Pro, REDMI Note 15 Pro, Note 15 Pro+ and POCO M8 Pro 5G. Among newer models, there are POCO X8, X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max, and from the performance-focused F series, the full generations of POCO F7, F8 and F9 are included.

The builds also reached the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4, Pad 7, Pad 7 Pro, Pad Mini and REDMI Pad 2 tablets in several versions.

Which phones are still missing from the list?

Throughout the whole period since 14 August, HyperOS 4 has not appeared for Redmi Note 13 5G, Note 13 Pro+, POCO X6 5G, Xiaomi 13 Lite, the Xiaomi 12 series, or the cheap Redmi 13, Redmi 14C and POCO C75. For these phones, Xiaomi is releasing HyperOS 3 updates at the same time. It looks like they will remain on HyperOS 3.

An internal build is not a promise of an update. Xiaomi tests the system on it. Customers will only get it later, and for some models maybe not at all. Until Xiaomi publishes an official plan for Europe, this list is a good estimate, but it doesn't guarantee anything. We are continuously adding all models that should get HyperOS 4 to the big smartphone list.

Which system version you have, you’ll find out from the build number in Settings under My phone. The letters EU before the XM suffix mean the European version, while MI means the global one.

Is your phone not on the list? These are the cheapest ones that Xiaomi HyperOS 4 is already testing

If you have one of the discontinued models and you’re still considering a new phone, pick from those for which Xiaomi build HyperOS 4 is preparing. We checked the prices on Heureka 18. October.

  • REDMI 15C under €140 is the cheapest way to get to HyperOS 4. The same phone is also sold as POCO C85.
  • REDMI Note 15 5G costs around €220 and is sold by 10 stores. Its twin is POCO M8 5G.
  • REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G—you can buy it for under €330.
  • POCO X8 Pro for under €380 is listed by 21 stores. Of this quartet, it’s the most powerful.

REDMI 15C as well as POCO X8 Pro are today more than 15 % pricier than they were in summer, so if you’re in no rush, it’s worth waiting for Black Friday. The same applies to the whole list: the internal build isn’t guaranteed, and Xiaomi hasn’t published a Europe date yet.
