We recently told you about the fact that Xiaomi is already preparing a new generation of its smartwatches, and we could see them as early as next month. This theory is also supported by a new certification that reveals two new models at once. One of them will be aimed primarily at athletes.
New certification
A user named Mukul Sharma shared information on his Twitter profile that Xiaomi has registered the Watch S brand. This trademark covers two models at once. They should be called Xiaomi Watch S and Xiaomi Watch S Active. As the second name suggests, the Active version should be more oriented toward users focused on being active.
Appearance, design, and features have not been revealed yet. Xiaomi is keeping those to themselves for now. Now we don’t know whether these two models will be successors to the original watches Mi Watch, which remained behind China’s gates and had a Wear OS operating system with a MIUI overlay, or the with the same name, which offer a round design and trimmed-down features.
Maybe already in September
We’re curious what design Xiaomi will offer to customers, what the battery life will be like, and what operating system the company will decide to use. Whether it’s Google’s popular Wear OS or their own proprietary system with limited functions—especially when it comes to customizing notifications and replying to them.
We expect that in the coming weeks more and more information about these new manufacturer watches will appear. We could see these two models already at the September conference. First of all, they should be intended for the Chinese market, but we believe that at least one model will be released for the global market as well.
