The global version of Redmi Note 14 Pro will get a better camera than the Chinese version. But the Pro+ version will lose the telephoto lens.

The Redmi Note 14 series is already officially on sale in China, and soon we’ll be seeing its launch for the global market. Everything suggests this should happen by the end of the current year. The Redmi Note 14 Pro variant should also get an interesting upgrade in the global version. However, we were slightly surprised by an unexpected change for the model labeled “Pro+”. What exactly is going on?

Redmi Note 14 Pro will get an upgrade. But what about the “Pro+” version?

One of the biggest intergenerational innovations in the new model lineup is precisely the camera system. For the “Pro” models intended for worldwide sales, this improvement will be even more significant. At least when it comes to the main sensors. According to an internal code from HyperOS, the primary camera on these models will be a 200 MP Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor, which is better than the 50 MP alternative OVX8000 from the Chinese model.

It’s not just about resolution, though—the sensor used in the global variant is overall better and will produce higher-quality shots. The main sensor will therefore be more advanced, but in return the manufacturer won’t offer a promising-looking 50 MPx telephoto lens with 2.5× optical zoom, which Redmi Note 14 Pro+ was supposed to bring. You’ll only get an additional 2 MPx macro camera (OV02B10).

We don’t like that so much, and it’s questionable whether we’d rather keep the telephoto lens at the expense of the main camera quality. Everyone has different preferences, though. The good news is for potential buyers of the Redmi Note 14 Pro model, which gets only an improvement to the primary camera and won’t be downgraded in any way.
