A collaboration between Xiaomi and another major globally known brand doesn’t happen often. Products that belong to the ecosystem of this Chinese manufacturer are usually made in-house, or in collaboration with one of its many sub-brands. That’s why the connection between Huami and GoPro sounds very interesting.
Thanks to the collaboration between Huami and GoPro, a useful app will be created
The result of this collaboration should be the ability to control GoPro action cameras through Huami’s Zepp OS-powered watches. Xiaomi owns this brand, and when it comes to smartwatches, we already know it very well.
Huami has officially announced that their Zepp OS operating system will get a new app for controlling GoPro cameras. This brings one big advantage. You won’t have to pull your smartphone out of your pocket anymore—your watch will be enough, as it’s on your wrist.
It will be one of the first third-party apps that the operating system will support. It should arrive with another update of it later this year.
A young operating system with potential
Zepp OS is being developed by Huami and was officially unveiled in July this year. It focuses mainly on health-related features. You can find more information about this system in our article. The system is also characterized by low hardware demands, which is also linked to lower power consumption. That means the watch will last longer on a single charge.
Long battery life isn’t ensured only thanks to the system itself, but also significantly helped by the Huangshan 2S chipset. It enables continuous health monitoring of the user with minimal energy consumption.
A new generation of Amazfit smartwatches from Huami still this year
The company also released a tool that will make developing apps for Zepp OS easier. What does that mean for the end user? Even more high-quality apps for watches running this operating system. The latest generation of Amazfit smartwatches with Zepp OS will be officially presented in the last quarter of this year.
