Recently, we showed you the Xiaomi S400 Pro scale, which measures through the entire glass surface. The current only runs through the legs, so the data for the arms and torso is just estimated by the scale. Xiaomi S800 adds a retractable handle, has a total of 8 electrodes, and measures your whole body. Until now, you could only order it from China, but now it’s in the Czech warehouse from our partner Gshopper and with a coupon it comes out cheaper.

Chinese version: What’s good and what to watch out for?

S800 is sold only in the Chinese version—there is no global one—so even if you order for Czechia, you’ll still get the Chinese one. It has a few consequences you should know before buying.

Pros:

• 8 electrodes with a retractable handle—measures arms, legs, and torso
• two frequencies 25 and 100 kHz and 40 body data points
• heart-rate measurement, balance test, and weighing a baby and objects
• up to 36 profiles for the whole family
• four AA batteries last, according to Xiaomi, 180 days
• pairing and reporting with the iPhone worked without any issues

Cons:

• the app must have the region set to Chinese mainland
• on some Android phones, the scale won’t pair or won’t generate a report
• on Android, the app with a Chinese region is often only in English
• no Wi‑Fi—sends data via Bluetooth to your phone or to a Xiaomi Bluetooth gateway

As for warranty, it’s handled directly by the Gshopper seller—Xiaomi service in Slovakia doesn’t repair units for the Chinese market. If you need it, we’re also available with our VIP support for all our customers.

How to get S800 running on Android?

We didn’t have any issues with the iPhone, and readers don’t report any either. On Android, it depends on the specific phone. In the comments, you say the scale works with Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra as well as Redmi 13 Pro. On Google Pixel and Motorola Razr 60, however, it wouldn’t run even with the Chinese region. In a poll under our first article about the S800, four owners voted: three use it with Android without any problems, and one uses it with iPhone.

1. In the Mi Fitness or Xiaomi Home app, switch the region to Chinese mainland. In Xiaomi Home, you’ll find it in your profile under Additional settings and Region.
2. If you already tried adding the scale, reset it. The reset button is inside the battery compartment—press and hold it for about 7 seconds.
3. Add the scale again, and for the first measurement stand barefoot and hold the handle.
4. If the global Mi Fitness can’t find it, try the Chinese version of Mi Fitness from the official website or Xiaomi Home.
5. The last option is an unofficial modified Mi Home app by developer Vevs, who lists support for the model xiaomi.scales.ms116. Under this label, it’s S800.

An older model from 2023 that we tested paired with a Xiaomi phone, but no report was generated after weighing. With an iPhone, everything worked on the first try. If you have both iPhone and Android at home, start pairing on the iPhone instead.

Eight electrodes also measure your hands

A regular scale has electrodes only under the feet, so the current runs up one leg and down the other, while your hands and torso are estimated. S800 has, in addition to electrodes under the feet, a handle you pull out and hold in front of you. This way, the scale measures five body parts: both hands, both legs, and the torso.

The electrodes on the handle are bigger and wider than on the previous model, so you can grip it more comfortably. After measuring, the cable winds itself back. The scale surface is made of tempered glass with a conductive ITO layer and measures 320 × 345 mm, so even a foot size 48 will fit.

Two frequencies and 40 data points

S800 measures on two frequencies, 25 and 100 kHz. The lower one captures water outside the cells and the higher one also captures water within them, and then the scale calculates your body composition. Xiaomi claims agreement with a reference DEXA scan above 0,97, but this hasn’t been independently verified.

The app shows 40 data points, from fat and muscle proportions through visceral fat to body type. Along with that, the scale also measures your heart rate, and the lights on the display will tell you whether you’re standing correctly and holding the handle properly. Bioimpedance numbers are just estimates, so focus mainly on the trend and weigh yourself in the morning under the same conditions.

One scale for the whole family

The scale supports up to 36 profiles and, according to Xiaomi, measures fat even in teens. In the app, you can switch to weighing mode for a baby or items, so you can even weigh a suitcase before a trip. The app also includes a balance test.

It runs on four AA batteries, which according to Xiaomi last 180 days. The data is sent via Bluetooth 5.0 to your phone, and if you have a Xiaomi Bluetooth hub at home, it will store in the cloud even without it. The scale can hold up to 150 kg and weighs with accuracy to 50 grams.
