Quick summary

  • Xiaomi has introduced Mijia Smart Air Purifier with Humidification Pro — an air purifier and humidifier in one body.
  • First, the air passes through the cleaning filter, and only then through the humidification part, so no humidity from unfiltered air gets into the room.
  • The tank has 8 liters, humidifies for 16 hours continuously, and disinfects the water circuit with the UV-C module.
  • The stated CADR is 400 m³/h, and it’s meant to clean your living room in 10 minutes.
  • In China, pricing started at the equivalent of around €200; Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed availability in Europe yet.

In an apartment block during winter, it’s the same battle every year. The air purifier filters out dust and pollen, but the air is still so dry that you wake up in the morning with a dried-out throat. So you end up buying a humidifier for it — and suddenly your living room has two boxes that get in each other’s way. Xiaomi decided to combine them into one device.

Filter first, then humidify

The new model, called Mijia Smart Air Purifier with Humidification Pro (model CJSJSQ02ZMGL), is brought by the manufacturer for the global market. The key thing, though, is the design: the air passes through the cleaning filter first and then the humidifying one. Sounds like a detail, but that ordering is exactly what makes the difference between a 2-in-1 device and a cheap combo.

The stated CADR for particles is 400 m³/h according to GB/T 18801-2022, while Xiaomi also lists a measured value of up to 422 m³/h on the product page. In practice, that should mean cleaning a kids’ room in 3.5 minutes, a bedroom in 4.3 minutes, and a living room in 10 minutes.

Eight liters of water and a UV-C lamp in the water circuit

The humidification part is evaporative, meaning no visible mist — you won’t get white limescale spots on the furniture, and you only need regular tap water. The tank holds 8 liters, and you top it up from above like a plant pot, or you can remove the whole tank using the handle.

Humidification output is 1,800 ml/h (Xiaomi mentions up to 2,000 ml/h in its marketing), and in sleep mode it drops to 450 ml/h—enough for 16 hours of continuous operation.

But the most interesting part is hygiene: the UV-C module continuously disinfects the water circuit, and the design prevents backflow of pre-filtered water into the tank. The humidifying filter can be washed, and after you turn the unit off, it automatically dries—exactly the place where mold starts to grow on cheap humidifiers after the season.

What it needs to catch

Xiaomi claims to remove twelve common pollutants, and supports the figures with two independent tests—SGS certification for allergens and a microbiological lab test in Guangzhou. After one hour of operation, the device should remove 99.99% of PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 particles as well as the influenza virus type A (H1N1).

For allergy sufferers, the more interesting figures are the others: 99.01% from cat dander, 98.07% from dust mites, 97.28% from pollen, and 96.11% from dog dander. Meanwhile, the air monitors five sensors at once—PM1, PM2.5, dust, temperature, and humidity—and everything is shown on a dome-shaped LCD display that automatically adjusts brightness to the surrounding light.

Xiaomi contradicts itself on noise

Be careful here. On Xiaomi’s product page, it says that in sleep mode the air purifier is quiet at only 14.6 dB(A)—a value below the hearing threshold, and it would be unbelievable even for a device without a fan. However, the technical datasheet of the same product lists 31 dB(A), and the Chinese version mentions 28.1 dB(A).

It’s probably down to different measurement methods, but until Xiaomi explains it, it’s best to go with the value from the technical sheet. Even then, it would still be quieter than a typical library.

Control runs via the Xiaomi Home app, where you can set the target humidity, scheduling, scenes, and monitor filter life. The device also supports voice control via Google Assistant and Alexa, and thanks to the 360° wheels, you can roll it from the living room to the bedroom without having to lift almost an eleven-kilo body.

Price and availability in Europe

In China, the model was unveiled in late July and in crowdfunding it launched at a price that’s around €200 after conversion; the regular price is expected to be about €340. Xiaomi has not confirmed European availability or pricing yet, although the product already has a page on the global website—this is usually the first sign it’s coming to you.

Roughly: Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 is sold in Europe for up to 200 euros, but it’s an air purifier without humidification. For the version with an 8-liter tank and a UV-C module, you should expect a noticeably higher price. If you don’t need humidification, also check out the flagship Air Purifier 6 Plus.
