Travel luggage is one of those categories where Xiaomi has maintained a steady lineup for years, but it doesn’t talk about it much. Now two completely new Mijia suitcase lines have appeared in the company’s global catalog, and one of them targets people who are moving or flying with the whole family — the largest model holds 106 liters.

Mijia Colorful Luggage: lightweight polypropylene for the cabin and the hold

The first of the two is Mijia Colorful Luggage. It’s made in two sizes: the 20-inch version has a capacity of roughly 40 liters and weighs 2.7 kilograms, while the 24-inch version offers about 67 liters at 3.4 kilograms. The shell is polypropylene, meaning it quickly returns to its original shape after impact instead of permanently denting. Xiaomi also describes it as scratch-resistant.

More interesting than the numbers themselves is how Xiaomi got there. Instead of simply making the suitcase bigger, it redesigned the shell proportions and expanded the side profile — the compartment is therefore about 20 millimeters deeper while keeping the outside dimensions suitable for the cabin. The interior is thoughtfully organized: on one side there’s a U-shaped zip divider, and on the other X-style compression straps that keep your clothes in place.

Recessed TSA lock and aluminum handle with four height settings

The smaller suitcase received a recessed TSA lock — a design where the lock doesn’t protrude from the suitcase body, protecting it from impacts during handling at the airport. TSA certification means customs officers can open the suitcase with their own key, without having to tamper with it. The telescopic handle is entirely made of an aluminum alloy with a special coating for corrosion and jamming resistance, and it can be adjusted to four height settings, which isn’t standard for suitcases in this class.

The suitcase rolls on 55 mm large multi-direction wheels, and Xiaomi highlights noise: according to the company, the adjusted wheel structure reduces internal resonance, making the suitcase quieter to pull, while the larger diameter handles uneven surfaces better.

Details also include a smooth top carry handle that won’t catch the backpack straps, a flexible TPU handle on top, and side feet that protect the suitcase body when you set it down.

Mijia Extra-large Luggage: 106 liters and Covestro polycarbonate shell

The second new release is much more ambitious. Mijia Extra-large Luggage comes in a 26-inch version with an 87-liter capacity and a weight of 4.7 kilograms, and a 28-inch version with 106 liters at approximately five kilograms. Xiaomi positions it directly as a moving suitcase, for long trips abroad, and for family vacations — in other words, where you’d otherwise take two pieces of luggage.

The capacity wasn’t created by simply enlarging the outline, but by a reinforced yet thicker shell. It’s made of polycarbonate from the German chemical group Covestro, and Xiaomi assembles it using a multilayer composite process to withstand throwing onto baggage belts. The suitcase stands on 360-degree rotating wheels with metal sleeves and TPE high-elasticity covers, which are designed to dampen rolling noise.

Divider 3:7, wet-items compartment, and zip to prevent splitting

The inside of the large model is split in a 3:7 ratio. The smaller front section is a flat compartment with a built-in divider layer to separate wet and dry items; it opens separately, so you don’t have to unpack the entire suitcase. Xiaomi designed the bigger main compartment to be deep so it can take even irregular or bulky items, and it comes with a removable separator.

On suitcases with this kind of capacity, the weakest point is usually the zipper—and Xiaomi has reinforced it. It features double-row teeth designed to keep the suitcase closed even when it’s packed beyond a reasonable limit. The lock is again TSA certified, the corners are protected with reinforced bumpers, and there are three carry handles—front, top, and side—all made of soft rubber. For a suitcase that can weigh up to thirty kilograms once loaded, it’s more practical than it might seem at first glance.

Xiaomi hasn’t announced Europe pricing yet.

On Xiaomi’s global website, both models are listed as new, but the company hasn’t provided a price or availability date for European markets. Colorful Luggage is expected to be sold in black and blue, while the Extra-large Luggage will come in carbon-black and avocado-green.

Good news: a product added to the global catalog typically shows up in European warehouses within a few weeks—and we’ve previously seen Mijia suitcases sold with a coupon well below one hundred euros. As soon as the prices are announced, we’ll let you know.
