- Xiaomi unveiled the Mijia Night Light 4, the successor to the 2024 night light.
- It detects motion using a 24GHz radar with a 120° viewing angle and a range of up to 3 meters.
- The 800 mAh battery is rated for up to eight months, charging via USB-C.
- The light is indirect, with four brightness levels and no flickering.
- In Europe, it’s available for pre-order in the Gshopper Czech warehouse, with our exclusive promo code.
Night light is one of those cheap add-ons you don’t really need—until you get one. Xiaomi has covered this category in China for years, and now it’s pushing it further: Mijia Night Light 4 replaces the motion sensor with a radar and promises that it will spot you in a dark hallway more reliably than any predecessor.
Instead of a motion sensor, a radar with a viewing angle of 120 degrees
The biggest change compared to the Night Light 3 generation from 2024 is the new 24GHz radar sensor. It covers a 120° angle and, according to the manufacturer, can also detect even small movement at a distance of 3 meters in front of it and 2.5 meters to the sides. The light turns on when you enter a dark room and turns off ten seconds after you leave.
As Gizmochina noted in an article, Gizmochina also uses the same type of Xiaomi radar in the Mijia Smart Bathroom Heater P1, where it detects a person’s presence in the room. Compared to a conventional infrared sensor, the radar has the advantage of reacting even to very subtle movement. It will turn on even when you just turn around in the room and don’t walk anywhere.
It lights the wall, not your eyes
The light is handled indirectly: instead of shining straight into your face, the lamp bounces it off the wall behind you. You can choose from four brightness levels: 1, 3, 5, and 15 lumens. The lowest settings are designed for hallways and bedrooms, while the strongest mode is ideal for the bathroom or a wardrobe, where you want to see something properly.
Xiaomi says the light doesn’t flicker and meets the RG0 standard for blue-light safety, using a warm tint that won’t bother your eyes in the dark. In the photo below, you can see the previous Night Light 3 model. The principle of indirect lighting remains the same in the new generation.
That indirect lighting is exactly why these little lamps are placed in hallways and by the bed. When you get up at night, you don’t need to turn on the main light and fully wake up—just a few lumens reflected off the wall are enough.
Battery for eight months and availability in Europe
Inside there’s a lithium battery with a 800 mAh capacity, and Xiaomi promises up to eight months of use on one charge with power-saving modes. If you leave the highest brightness level on, the runtime drops to roughly three months. It charges via USB-C, so you don’t need to find a special cable or swap batteries.
The Mijia Night Light 4 is sold only in a Chinese version. Nothing changes in how it works—the lamp doesn’t connect to any app. For Europe, we had Gshopper bring it in on our recommendation, and in the Czech warehouse you can pre-order it with free shipping. The first units will start shipping from October 27. With our exclusive promo code, it will cost less than on AliExpress, where an additional customs duty is added to the price from the Chinese warehouse. You can find the current price and the promo code in the article about the Czech warehouse.
