In 2010, Xiaomi released the very first version of its own Android skin called MIUI. This year, we’ll already get its 11th version. The manufacturer officially kicked off development of MIUI 11 at the Xiaomi MIUI Core Experience Annual Meeting.
“New and unique OS”
Product development lead, Liu Ming, announced at the conference that MIUI 11 will be a completely “new and unique OS” from Xiaomi. There aren’t many details known yet, but we do know it will be even faster than the previous version. It will also bring more artificial intelligence. There will be more features that simulate human interaction and make smartphones easier to use.

Xiaomi had already stated that, when developing MIUI 11, it wants to focus on users’ needs. We’re not expecting a completely new user interface design. It’s also still not known when this unique system will be available to the public.

We expect the first smartphone to get MIUI 11 to be the new flagship Xiaomi Mi 9. As every year, Xiaomi will also be looking for volunteers to test the beta version.
Smartphones that will NOT get MIUI 11
Despite the fact that more than 300 million users currently use the MIUI skin on 40 different smartphone models, the list of supported models will once again shrink this year. Owners of the following Xiaomi smartphones won’t enjoy the new system from Xiaomi:
Redmi Note 3 Pro
Mi 4S
Mi 5
Mi 4
Mi 4C
The stable version of MIUI 10.2 will be the last update for owners of Redmi Note 3 Pro and Mi 5, while users of Mi 4S, Mi 4 and Mi 4C will only get MIUI 10.1. Unfortunately, this time the manufacturer has also canceled development of beta versions, so MIUI 11 won’t reach these models even in beta.
