This is a new sidebar that brings the global version of MIUI 13. It significantly improves multitasking

Together with the Redmi Note 11 series of smartphones, the global version of the MIUI 13 custom skin was also introduced. While it doesn’t offer all the features of the Chinese version, it still has plenty to impress with. This is a new side bar.

Another new feature in the global MIUI 13 version

We’ve already shown you some of the highlights of the new skin with the 13 in its name, for example the new widgets, which was one of the most requested features of MIUI 13. Otherwise, the system focused on better optimization of the device’s performance and battery life. You can read about all the news in our detailed article.

Have you also experienced a situation where, for example, you were watching a video and you suddenly had an idea you wanted to jot down right away? Or maybe you received a message that you had to respond to immediately? You had to pause the video, close the app, open the app from the notification, reply, and only then could you go back to watching the video.

A practical convenience

That long-winded way is thankfully a thing of the past in the new MIUI 13 skin. The side panel we’ve already seen in the Xiaomi Pad 5 tablet will be available for smartphones starting with the very first update. You can bring up this bar with a simple gesture from the edge of the display.

In the bar, you’ll see either the most-used apps or the ones the user has configured themselves. So this section is fully customizable.

Tap on the app to display it in a floating window. This way, you can jot down a note anytime, rewrite something important, or quickly reply to a message.

You’ll find the settings for this bar right in Settings, where you define which apps you’d like to have quickly available. It’s definitely another step towards boosting productivity on your smartphone. There are plenty of such little details in MIUI 13, so feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
