After a few weeks of tracking information about the upcoming POCO smartphone, it’s finally here. We’ve finally got the official unveiling of a representative of the lineup from Xiaomi, POCO M2 Pro.
It’s basically a rebranded smartphone Redmi Note 9S, or rather Redmi Note 9 Pro, which is well known on the international market. However, the POCO M2 Pro will be primarily aimed only at India.
POCO M2 Pro has been known for some time
POCO M2 Pro, which most likely won’t leave the Indian market, is practically an identical device to the Redmi Note 9 Pro, blending some of the distinctive features with the Redmi Note 9S.
The result is a cheap POCO smartphone that’s not meant for the global market. Inside, you’ll find the Snapdragon 720G processor, along with the Adreno 618 graphics accelerator.
This hardware comes combined with 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB UFS 2.1 of internal storage for all your user data. Plus, this storage can be expanded further with a microSD memory card.
Battery life on a single charge will be handled by a 5 000 mAh battery, which also supports fast 33 W charging. Thanks to that, the phone goes from 0% to 50% in as little as 30 minutes.
Decent camera specs and a low price
Compared to the Redmi Note lineup, POCO also includes a special vibration technology that allows the simulation of up to 120 haptic effects, which simulates a kind of “4D vibration”.
On the back, you’ll be pleased with a quad-camera setup, with the main sensor at 48 MPx. Behind it sits an 8 MPx ultra-wide lens with a 119-degree field of view. And you also get a 2 MPx depth-of-field sensor, along with a 5 MPx macro camera.
On the front, in a small cutout, there’s a 16 MPx “selfie” camera, with various modes that combine intelligent beautifying and face enhancement.
Other great features include support for creating RAW images, GPS, or WiFi AC.. There’s also a 3,5 mm audio jack for wired headphones, USB-C, and P2i certification. One of the biggest downsides is the absence of NFC for contactless mobile payments, which is used so often today.
The prices are interesting
In India, the POCO M2 Pro is available at the following prices: Rs 13,999 / 165 € / 187 USD for the 4 GB + 64 GB version.
The 6 GB + 64 GB version costs Rs 14,999 / 177 € / 200 USD, and for the top model 6 GB + 128 GB, people at home will pay Rs 16,999 / 201 € / 230 USD.
