At the beginning of last December, the expected flagship processor Snapdragon 888 5G was unveiled. For now, it still holds the performance crown among Android chipsets, but just moments ago it was overtaken by a successor from its own portfolio.
The American giant only recently officially introduced an improved sibling in the form of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ 5G processor. After the usual six-month interval, it brings a few upgrades that push it to the performance peak.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ 5G
Snapdragon 888+ 5G is entering the market with various upgrades. The biggest ones concern the frequency of the main core and artificial intelligence. The rollout of this processor is expected in the second half of this year.
The octa-core processor, just like its predecessor, is manufactured using modern 5 nm technology. The main core runs at a frequency of 3 GHz, which is about a 6% improvement over 2.84 GHz. Good news also affected AI (artificial intelligence).

AI performance has been increased by just under 20 % (from 26 TOPS to 32 TOPS). There’s also the well-known GPU chipset Adreno 660, Bluetooth 5.2 support, and Quick Charge 5. With the AI upgrade, for example, the quality of video calls with real-time background blur should improve.
Xiaomi, as one of the first interested parties
At its conference, Qualcomm said that Honor, Motorola, Vivo, Asus, and Xiaomi plan to roll out this processor in their smartphones already in the second half of 2021. For Xiaomi, it could be the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 model.
Of course, we’ll continue to monitor the whole situation and share all new updates on our website. In the discussion below the article, you can write to us whether you’re planning to get a smartphone with this processor or if you’re satisfied with the current performance limit.
