When Lu Weibing commented a while back that the score in the AnTuTu charts shocked him, none of us expected the achieved number to be that high.
The device name and integrated processor are already confirmed
The CEO of Redmi confirmed that the new Redmi K20 will come with a top-of-the-line processor Snapdragon 855. This is the very first device from this Xiaomi subsidiary brand that will be released with the most powerful mobile processor available. Until now, the Redmi series has used mid-range processors in its phones.
Redmi K20 isn’t on the market yet, but it’s already fighting
Right after the presentation of the competing OnePlus 7 Pro, Redmi launched a counterattack with a commercial that puts their new flagship killer front and center. And it looks like the battle is still going. Today, Lu Weibing showed what scared him so much and shared the achieved score in an AnTuTu test with the public.
Model Raphael, the codename of the incoming Redmi K20, reached 458,754 points in the AnTuTu test—so the result is truly unexpected. The score is also high even for the Snapdragon 855 processor, since the already available phones with this chip reach around 370,000 points.
New graphics and the Redmi logo
A graphic showing a sort of childish illustration of a little dragon—now the mascot of the Redmi K20 flagship—has also gone public. A photo of the phone’s back cover was revealed as well, along with details about the packaging for the new handset.
The graphic comes in purple shades, and the cutouts on the back cover hint at the placement of the rear cameras. The cutout for the rear fingerprint sensor is missing, so it might ultimately be placed under the display.
There are still plenty of questions
Many details about the upcoming Redmi K20 are already known, but what we don’t know are the key facts that will determine where this much-hyped flagship killer 2.0 will land in the market. We still don’t know its price or the date of its announcement—or release.
Only after these findings will it become clear whether the presented device really is the new king of the price-to-performance ratio.
