Redmi unveiled its arguably most premium smartphone yet — Redmi K90 Pro Max. The new model was launched exclusively for the Chinese market, but it’s expected that under the global brand POCO, the model will also appear in Europe as POCO F8 Ultra (not confirmed yet).

The phone comes with an extremely powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a premium camera system with a periscope 5× telephoto lens, a massive battery with a capacity of 7560 mAh, and audio tuned by Bose. You’ll also get an advanced display with brightness up to 3500 nits and DC dimming technology at 1 nits.

Three color options, special Denim version

Redmi K90 Pro Max for the Chinese market comes in three color versions: Black, White (Flowing Gold White), and a new blue denim version that uses a special “Tech Denim” finish — it has a velvet-like surface, resistance to UV light, abrasion, yellowing, and chemical corrosion.

The smartphone’s dimensions are 163.33 × 77.82 × 7.9 mm, while the denim version is slightly thicker — 8.3 mm — and also 2 grams heavier than the standard model (218 vs 220 g). The phone’s body is made of metal with polished edges and a unique speaker design on the back with a Bose signature. The entire build is rated according to IP68.

Flagship camera system with a periscope and a 1/1.31″ sensor

Redmi K90 Pro Max is the first Redmi smartphone with a periscope 5× telephoto lens. It uses a 50 MP JN5 sensor with f/3.0 aperture, optical stabilization (OIS), 10× lossless zoom, and 20× UltraZoom.

The 50 MP “Light Hunter 950” main sensor has a size of 1/1.31″, large 2.4μm pixels (4in1), OIS, and a 13.5EV dynamic range. It’s joined by an ultra-wide 50 MP OV50M sensor with a 102° field of view.

Video supports up to 8K 30 fps, 4K 60 fps, and slow-motion recording up to 1920 fps. You also get cinematic modes, HDR10+ recording, a macro mode, and a night mode. The front camera is 32 MP and supports up to 4K video.

Top display: 3500 nits, OLED, 1 nits with DC dimming

On the front you’ll find a 6.9″ OLED panel with a resolution of 2608 × 1200 px, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and touch sampling of up to 480 Hz. The display supports DCI-P3 wide color gamut, up to 687 billion colors (12-bit), Dolby Vision / HDR10+ / HDR Vivid technologies, and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor.

The display reaches a record-high maximum brightness of 3500 nits. The screen is protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass. The K90 Pro Max also brings advanced eye protection features like Xiaomi Aoyama 3.0, a 1-nit minimum brightness, and full DC dimming. The bezels are very thin, and the display body makes up as much as 94% of the front.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 1 TB storage, and brutal cooling

Inside you’ll find a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (Oryon CPU, Adreno GPU), built on TSMC’s 3 nm process. It’s complemented by an AI D2 chip to enhance photos and gaming performance. In the top configuration, the phone offers up to 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB UFS 4.1 storage.

The manufacturer implemented a new cooling generation: Xiaomi 3D Ice Cooling System, featuring cyclic cooling with a vapor chamber. This should let the phone handle long gaming sessions without overheating and throttling.

A huge battery with fast and wireless charging

Battery capacity reaches 7560 mAh and it’s the new “Jinsha River battery” from Xiaomi. It also supports 100 W wired and 50 W wireless charging, with the phone additionally supporting 22.5 W reverse charging. There’s also the Surge G2 chip for battery management and safe charging.

Sound from BOSE: 2.1 stereo and a bass module on the back

The audio system consists of a 2.1 stereo setup – a pair of 1115F super-linear speakers and a separate 1620 bass module with 7 W output. The rear speaker sits in a special chamber with a metal grille. The sound is tuned in collaboration with BOSE and supports Hi-Res Audio, Dolby Atmos, and QQ Music Supreme Sound certification.

Exclusive Lamborghini edition K90 Pro Max

For real car lovers and luxury, Redmi prepared a special version of K90 Pro Max Automobili Lamborghini Squadra Corse Edition. This edition is based on the standard model, but brings a unique design inspired by the racing vehicle Lamborghini SC63 – including the iconic logo, a redesigned rear cover with a “Y” pattern, and a microtexture reminiscent of carbon fiber.

The package includes special accessories such as a limited charger, data cable, certificate of originality, and an exclusive bundle. The phone also comes with an exclusive system theme, a special boot sound, charging animations, and Lamborghini-style apps. The edition is available only in the 16 GB RAM + 1 TB storage version for a price of 5499 yuan, which is approximately 665 €.
